Although designed to meet the needs of corporate guests and other short-stay travelers, the 221-room Hampton Inn & Suites seems to delight customers of every stripe. Guests praise the helpful staff, stylish, well-maintained ambience and location for its strolling distance to scores of downtown Miami restaurants. The free breakfast buffet is a Hampton chainwide standard but seems especially inviting here, thanks to a bright and cheerful eating area with enough elbow room around the wafflemaker to accommodate a full house. Contemporary rooms are very spacious and and have a bit more color and style than is typical for the chain. Overall, the hotel is a surprisingly appealing choice for guests en route to a cruise, flight or business meeting.
Scene
Sleek and streamlined with a touch of salsa
One of the only negatives guests report about the Hampton Inn is a bit of confusion upon arrival. A sleek, modern desk on the ground floor appears to be the check-in area, but guests are then directed to take the elevator to the hotel's lobby, which is located on the sixth floor. On one side of the soaring space, midcentury-style sofas and cocktail tables are scattered in groupings conducive to business conversations. The color scheme gets livelier in the lobby bar and breakfast area, where jazzy turquoise and fuchsia lend a tropical vibe.
Location
In Brickell, Miami's hip, urban financial district
The Hampton Inn borders the Brickell neighborhood, a global financial hub filled with high-rise condos and office towers. There are dozens of cafes, restaurants and bars within a three-block walk. Guests can also hop on the MetroMover, less than a block away, for a free ride to such downtown attractions as the Bayside Marketplace, American Airlines Arena, and Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. The Port of Miami is about two miles from the hotel, while the MetroRail station, which connects to Miami International Airport, is a half block away.
Rooms
Spacious, clean and well-equipped
Contemporary rooms have fuchsia wallpaper accent walls, white bedding, and blonde wood headboards. They have a bit more character and color than is found in the typical Hampton Inn room. They are also large and equipped with free Wi-Fi, coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs, and wet bars. Suites include microwaves and mini-fridges. Bathrooms are roomy for a chain hotel and benefit from a separate granite-topped dressing area.
Features
Packed with amenities, including free coffee, tea and hot chocolate 24 hours a day
The Hampton Inn has a workout room and a small rooftop sundeck with a pool, hot tub and snack bar. There is also a spacious business center and available conference and meeting spaces. Self-parking is available for a daily fee. The eco-friendly hotel also has an electric car charging station.
