The decor is consistent throughout the hotel, with tropical floral carpeting in the breakfast room and in the hallways. This chain hotel attracts both leisure and business travelers needing easy access to the airport at budget rates. 

One of the Fairfield Inn & Suites Miami Airport South's major selling points is that it’s only an eight-minute drive to Miami International Airport. The Central Shopping Plaza is a 12-minute walk away and has a Kmart, a Walgreens, and a few fast food restaurants. A movie theater, Le Jeune Cinema 6 takes just seven minutes to reach on foot. There are a variety of dining options within walking distance but most Miami attractions can only be reached by car. The University of Miami is a 20-minute drive; downtown Miami takes 15 minutes by car; and Miami Beach is a 25-minute drive away. 

The Fairfield Inn & Suites Miami Airport South offers two room types: Standard Rooms and Suites, both of which have a similar punchy design in contrasting green and orange. Beds have white linen and dark wooden headboards and sit against orange accent walls, and all units have navy carpet with a graphic green-square pattern and a few tropical art pieces. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers, but no safes. Suites also have microwaves and couches. Bathrooms are medium-sized with shower/tub combos, and all have a fun, sleek design that includes black-and-white thumbnail tiles and olive-green accents, seen in the broadly striped shower curtains. 

For a two-pearl hotel, the Fairfield Inn has many features that maximize its convenience. The hotel offers a decent free breakfast, though the plastic cutlery and paper plates provided are a down point. The only other dining option on-site is a small snack shop in the lobby. There’s also a large outdoor hot tub, though it's not open to children. It’s surrounded by lounge chairs and a single cabana with a few lime-colored plush outdoor couches. The hotel's 24-hour fitness center includes six cardio machines with built-in TVs as well as a rack of free weights. The business center is also open 24 hours a day and has three computers and a printer for guest use. There's also a fully equipped meeting space that can hold up to 35 people and a coin-operated laundry room. Use of the hotel's on-site garage parking incurs a fee, but guests can easily access Miami International Airport using the hotel’s free shuttle (note that hours are limited). Transfers to the cruise port are also available with prior arrangement.
