Bottom Line

The 110-room Hotel El Ejecutivo is a mid-range option that's close to two of the city's main avenues, Insurgentes and Reforma. Many restaurants, shops, businesses, and attractions are within walking distance, and the Zona Rosa is only a 10-minute walk away. Rooms are modern and bright, featuring flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. However, portable air-conditioning units draw complaints, and street noise is an issue in some rooms. Dining, including a breakfast buffet (fee), is available at two on-site restaurants. Five events spaces accommodate business and social gatherings, and a 24/7 business center provides computers and a printer. For an alternative that's right in the heart of the Zona Rosa, check out Plaza Florencia instead, which has similar rates.

Scene

Simple, modern hotel suitable for weekday business travelers and weekend tourists

This simple hotel is housed in a 14-story modern glass building. Interiors are minimalist, but fresh, with a gray color scheme highlighted by colorful modern art in spots. The small lobby has a row of cushioned gray seats where guests can gather, and there are a few modern chairs as well. Even so, this isn't exactly a hotel where people are lingering and socializing, and is best used as a reliably up-to-date property in a busy part of town. During the week, the hotel draws mostly business travelers with work in the area. On weekends, the clientele is generally couples, groups, and families taking advantage of the reasonable rates and central location.

Location

Near Reforma and Insurgentes, a 10-minute walk to the heart of Zona Rosa

This hotel is situated in the Juarez neighborhood, just off two of the city's main avenues, Insurgentes and Paseo de la Reforma. Guests can reach the Zona Rosa, packed with nightlife and dining spots, in 10 minutes. The Cuauhtemoc Metro station is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Mexico City's Zocalo and the historic center, where many attractions are located, is 20 minutes away by car, or 25 minutes by public transportation. The Palacio de Bellas Artes, a stunning theater and museum, is about 15 minutes away by car, or just under 30 minutes on foot for those who don't mind a long walk. The famed National Museum of Anthropology is a 20-minute drive from the hotel, or 50 minutes away by public transportation. Expect about 40 minutes to reach Mexico City International Airport by car, though be aware that traffic can make this vary.

Rooms

Contemporary, bright rooms with flat-screen TVs, portable air-conditioners, and safes

The contemporary rooms here feature plank-effect floors, crisp gray-and-white bed linens, contemporary light fixtures, and sleek white furniture. Large pieces of modern art behind the beds provide the only splash of color. It's a pleasingly bright look that stands in contrast to some of the dated mid-range options found nearby. All rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs, safes, floor-unit air-conditioners, and free Wi-Fi. However, the air-conditioners aren't always up to snuff, and can be noisy (in addition to traffic noise in street-side rooms). Bathrooms are small, but modern, and feature above-counter sinks, hairdryers, toiletries, and tiled walk-in showers. Some rooms have outstanding views of the city.

Features

Two restaurants, event spaces, and 24/7 business center, plus free parking and Wi-Fi

Although features here are limited, the hotel has two casual restaurants. A breakfast buffet is served daily and is included in some room rates. Sens Coffee Bistro serves coffee, cocktails, and light fare inside and out on a covered terrace by the tree-lined street. Emotions is the place for international fare a la carte. Room service is available, but hours are limited. Five event spaces can accommodate a variety of business and social gatherings for up to 470 people. A 24/7 business center in the lobby offers two computers and a printer for guests to use for free, and printing services are available for a fee. On-site parking is free, as is Wi-Fi.
