Rooms can be small
The 26-room Villaggio Hotel Boutique is an intimate mid-range hotel located close to Mendoza’s Plaza Independencia. The location is the key reason to stay here, with tourist sites and plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance. Features are limited, but include an outdoor pool, small fitness room, and a lounge bar-slash-coffee shop. Rooms are small and simple, with amenities like TVs and free Wi-Fi. Air-conditioning is centralized. Downsides aren’t huge -- the tired decor receives the most complaints; it’s more a case that there aren’t exactly upsides either. The hotel is geared towards tourist couples and friends. Families and larger groups looking for more space at comparable rates might like to check out the Soltigua Apart Hotel, though its location isn’t as central.
Scene
Simple and modern boutique-sized base in a central spot that works well for business travelers
The Villaggio Hotel Boutique is a simple property with a modern-minimalist approach. It’s a good value base in an excellent location, but has little in the way of charm or stand-out features. Spaces here are small and functional, and it unapologetically refuses to be anything other than a simple home base for business travelers and tourists who don't need a ton of frills. The decor is tired and there are signs of wear and tear. The hotel draws tourist couples and friends who are likely to spend most days and evenings out and about in Mendoza.
Location
Right by Plaza Independencia in the center of Mendoza
Villaggio Hotel Boutique fronts a tree-lined street in the heart of Menzoda, a block from the city’s main square, Plaza Independencia, where sights include the Museo Municipal Arte Moderno and the Teatro Independencia. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance, as well as green spaces. Parque General San Martin can be reached in a 10-minute drive. Plan on about 20 minutes to reach the airport by car, or about an hour by public transportation.
Rooms
Small and simple rooms, with TVs and free Wi-Fi
Rooms are small and simple, with a clean design that’s all about the wooden floors and white fabrics. Amenities like TVs and free Wi-Fi come as standard. There is air-conditioning, although it’s centralized. Fully-tiled bathrooms have a shower/tub combo and wall-mounted hairdryers, and toiletries are provided. Most of the hotel’s rooms are Classic Rooms -- and they’re small. There are also four Superior Rooms, which are more spacious and come with a bar area complete with wine chiller and mini-fridge (you’ll need to pay for what you consume). It’s worth noting that rooms are set over four stories and there’s a dedicated smoking floor. Keep in mind that the central location means that there may be some noise in street-facing rooms.
Features
A courtyard-style outdoor pool tops the small list of features
This hotel has a few simple features. The highlight is its grassy outdoor area, where a courtyard-style pool is surrounded by some loungers. Indoors, a whirlpool tub and sauna are free to use, and there’s a small fitness room with a treadmill, stationary bike, and multi-gym machine. Salotto is a lounge bar with a coffee shop vibe and computer stations, and a buffet breakfast is included in the rates. Limited room service is available, but there’s no dining venue for evening meals. Wi-Fi is free and there’s a reliable signal throughout the hotel. Free parking is available across the street. The front desk can arrange tours around the local area, including to wineries.
