Scene
Charming country house with homey ambience and attentive owners
This charming country home consists of a main house and four accommodations units -- essentially cottages -- situated on nearly two landscaped acres of gardens, trees, and flowers. The main building contains reception, a living area, and the kitchen and dining room. It has a special ambience and feels more like staying in a friend's house than a hotel. The owners settled in the area in the 1980s and turned the estate into a hotel in 2005, paying careful attention to protecting the grounds and mature trees. Inside, they used doors, windows, wood, and other parts of demolished old properties, providing an attractive rustic vibe throughout. Adding to the homey character here are the family's dogs and cats, who roam the property. This unique place draws all sorts of travelers looking for a peaceful getaway (complete with chirping birds), including couples, families, and solo travelers. Previous guests rave about the accommodating nature of the owners.
Location
Peaceful countryside setting outside Chacras de Coria, a 25-minute drive from central Mendoza
Casa Glebinias is situated in a beautiful, peaceful area at the foot of the Andes, though a rental car is almost a necessity to explore the region. It's a seven-minute drive or 30-minute walk from the picturesque village of Chacras de Coria. The town's main square, Plaza General Espejo, is a lively place with a weekly market where you can buy local crafts and antiques. There's also an interesting church to visit there. The area is best known for its wines, especially malbec, and the family-owned Clos de Chacras winery is just eight minutes away by car. Central Mendoza can be reached in about 25 minutes by car. For active guests, a variety of recreation is available in the area, including skiing, mountain climbing, trekking, rafting, horseback riding, paragliding, cycling, fly fishing, birding, and windsurfing. Plan on 30 to 40 minutes to reach El Plumerillo International Airport by car.
Rooms
Charming rooms and suites with kitchenettes, air-conditioning, and balconies or porches
Rooms and suites here are separate from the main house, and all are decorated in a charming style. They're arranged like cottages throughout the property, with two units per cottage, generally. Among the special features are high, exposed-beam ceilings, wood floors, exposed brick walls, regional iron and wood accents, and beautiful stained glass windows. Many of the unit have a distinctly old-school appeal. The warm, cozy De los Jazmines Suite is bathed in soft shades of pink both inside and out. Even the bathroom has pink walls, a nice complement to the black-and-white tiling. Some units include separate sitting areas, and all have balconies or porches with tranquil garden views. As one of the more family-friendly boutiques in the area, there are two units with two bedrooms. Amenities in all include flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, kitchenettes, safes, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms come with hairdryers, toiletries, towel warmers, and bidets.
Features
Free breakfast, dinner served on-site, wine cellar, cooking classes, outdoor pool, playground, and free Wi-Fi
Features are simple here, but include just enough to help travelers unwind after exploring the region's vineyards and outdoor activities. Guests can start their day with a free breakfast served in a lovely dining room in the main house or delivered to their room. Selections include breads, jams, ham and cheese sandwiches, yogurt, fruits, cereals, and eggs cooked to order. The restaurant, which looks much like a kitchen and dining room in someone's home, also serves regional fare for dinner, along with local wines and beers. Floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights allow in lots of natural light, as well as beautiful views of the gardens. Tastings are offered in the wine cellar, and cooking classes also are available. An outdoor pool manages to feel even more away from it all than the property itself, as it's surrounded by large trees, lush greenery, and flowers. Cushioned wooden lounge chairs are spread out across the grassy lawn. Children can swing and climb on the adjacent simple playground. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
