The Vermont Inn is a historic, family-run property in tiny Mendon, located halfway between Killington Ski Resort and Rutland. It has classic New England decor throughout and an overall cozy feel, but common spaces could use refreshing. Rooms are homey if not luxurious, and vary in size and configuration. They all have small flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and clean bathrooms, and some have features such as four-poster beds, fireplaces, and jetted tubs. The pub offers a wonderful breakfast that is included in the nightly rate; for lunch and dinner, guests must go elsewhere. The property was featured on the Travel Channel show Hotel Impossible, during which it received an upgraded, shabby-chic look in the Bridal Suite and improved landscaping on the grounds.
