Bottom Line

This 115-unit mid-range condo hotel is located on a small
cove that some refer to as Turtle Bay, because – you guessed it – it's known to be
a popular spot among sea turtles, making for some of the best snorkeling in the
area. The property also boasts amazing ocean views from every unit, and is just a
five-minute walk to a lovely beach. The one- and two-bedroom condos have fully equipped
kitchens and nice seating on breezy lanais, though some units enjoy newer
appliances and more updates than others. Those who want to be right on the beach should consider the nearby Napili Surf Beach Resort, but should note that not all of its condos have ocean views.

Scene

An emphasis on natural beauty at this mid-range condo property

The Condos at Napili Point enjoy a superb location on a
small point alongside a small, peaceful cove. This cove – known as Turtle Bay
to some because sea turtles are commonly sighted here – is a favorite among
snorkelers. The occasional Hawaiian Monk Seal might make an appearance on the
rocks as well. They are an endangered species and many signs along the coast inform
visitors to keep their distance. But the real highlights here are the beautiful panoramic views of vivid green grass, blue ocean, and bluer sky. All of the 115
condos enjoy great ocean views from their breezy lanais, and are split into Ocean-view, Oceanfront, and Point Oceanfront categories, with the latter having the best panoramas. The condos are arranged
on the nicely landscaped property in three levels: A and B levels are
one-bedroom units and the C level offers two-bedroom units. The atmosphere is very laid-back and peaceful. The two pools
and nearby beach make the property very family-friendly, though there are also many
repeat guests who have been coming here for years and tend to be a bit older. An ivy-covered trellis at the
entrance to the front office sets the scene for a whimsical tropical getaway
with an emphasis on nature and the beauty of Maui.

Location

A quiet area north of Lahaina with excellent snorkeling

The waterfront Condos at Napili Point are located in West
Maui along a small cove called Honokeana Bay, which is a very popular snorkeling spot, with calm waters and a
great reef. While the coast surrounding the
property is rocky, there is a nice beach just a five-minute walk down an ocean
trail. The property is set in a quiet neighborhood just south of the large
upscale resorts are grand beaches of Kapalua.Though most if this area is residential, there are a small handful
of shops and restaurants within walking distance of the property – including a
great breakfast spot called The Gazebo. A rental car will allow guests reach a
larger array of dining options and to really explore the rest of the island. It’s a 20-minute
drive north of the shopping malls and bustling mega-resorts of Lahaina, and
about a 50-minute drive to the Kahului Airport.

Rooms

One or two-bedroom condos with great views, though upgrades vary

The 115 condos at Napili Point consist of one- or two-bedroom
units arranged over three levels: A, B and C. The two-bedroom condos are all on
C-level, which is the highest level and offers great views. Most two-bedroom
units have a loft-style layout for the second bedroom, which is fully open to
the living room area below. The A-level condos are oceanfront and on the ground floor, with lanais that
face directly out onto a walking path that leads around the resort, and therefore offer less privacy. Note that most units lack air-conditioning; if it's a priority, book an A-level unit as these at least have AC window units in the bedrooms (only a couple of B- and C-level units do). Most guests are satisfied to cool their rooms with ceiling fans and ocean breezes. The interior decorations vary from unit to unit, but overall most condos
feature contemporary decor with warm colors such as browns and soft greens.
Palm-tree patterns and other island-inspired decor complement bamboo and light
wood furniture, to give a general beachy feel. Some units have fully
mirror-covered walls in the living room, or mirrored closet doors, which feel a
bit dated.Updates vary depending on the owners. All condos have a fully equipped
kitchen with a coffeemaker, toaster, stove, and refrigerator. Some kitchens are
fully updated with marble countertops and stainless steel appliances, while
others have older finishes and dated fixtures. Some units even have a surround-sound
speaker system in the living room and iPod dock in the bedrooms. Although
upgrades differ from unit to unit, all condos have nice flat-screen TVs and a
dishwasher in the kitchen. All condos also have a washer and dryer in the unit.
Every unit has a nice lanai with comfortable seating and fantastic views of the
bay and up the coast.

Features

The few features include two pools and an access path to a lovely beach

There are two nice pools, both with great views of the ocean
and the bay. The A-level pool is centrally located and popular in the
afternoons. Not much shade is found nearby and there’s just one umbrella, but
plenty of chairs are available for sunbathers. The B-level pool is quieter and more serene,
and also better suited for lap swimmers. A few barbecue grills and picnic
tables are located near the pools, and peppered around the large property. Around
the buildings, the beautifully kept tropical grounds are dotted with many colorful flowers. The staff at Napili Point offers weekly nature walks and
pineapple-cutting demonstrations, and is ready to answer questions about their
beloved island. Other than the pools and barbecue areas, there's not much to list in the amenities category – there's no hot tub, fitness room, or games on the property. The coast in front of the hotel is rocky and there is a
small public access point to allow snorkelers to step down into the bay. This
has become a popular snorkeling spot as sea turtles are often found in this peaceful
little cove. A trail from the north end of the property leads to a walking path
along the shore. It passes along coral and rocky areas at first, but follow the
path just a five-minute walk up the coast to reach the excellent beach at Napili Bay.
