Set on a breezy hilltop overlooking Anse-a-l'Ane beach, Le Panoramic has 36 Studios and Bungalows styled with colorful yellow kitchens, modern Caribbean-inspired decor, and ocean views from private terraces. Martinique is called the "Island of Flowers," and the hotel emphasizes the label by surrounding the pool and trimming the stone paths that traverse the hillside with a variety of colorful flowers and trees. While not located directly on the beach, the hotel shuttles guests down the hill on request. Those who must be steps from the ocean might prefer Hotel Bakoua, located in nearby Les Trois-Ilets.
Scene
An impeccable, sustainably designed hotel with a pool and flowering gardens set on a hilltop overlooking the Caribbean
Le Panoramic's serene hilltop location delivers constant breezes and panoramic views of the Caribbean. The 36 Bungalows and Studios, renovated in 2015, are ideal for self-catering couples and families who prefer to stock the refrigerators with basic necessities and enjoy simple meals on the terraces.
With no amenities besides a pool on-site, the hotel primarily attracts visitors who use the hotel as a jumping off point to explore the island. The property's aerie location makes it easy to see the lay of the land stretching from the beach across the bay to Fort de France. At the bottom of the hill is the serene Anse-a-l'Ane Beach with its calm waters, a ferry dock that shuttles back and forth to Fort de France, and a few local restaurants where guests can dine on freshly caught seafood within earshot of the tapping waves. It's also close to the shops and restaurants of the Creole style village of Pointe de Bout and the Robert Trent Jones designed golf course, another popular spot for lunch.
Location
Set at the end of a paved road on a hilltop overlooking the Anse-a-l'Ane beach and the surrounding rolling green hillsides, about a 40-minute drive to Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport
Le Panoramic is perched on a tall hillside above the small beachfront village of Anse-a-l'Ane, a quiet stretch of white sand dotted with a few restaurants and local vendors.
Rooms
Studios and Bungalows with colorful yellow kitchens, small living areas with sofa trundle beds, and private terraces with ocean views
All of Le Panoramic's rooms share the same footprint (387 square feet), furnishings, and decor with the only distinguishing factor being the building type -- the low slung, one-story Bungalow buildings are set below the lobby on the hillside and there's a two-story building for the Studios adjacent to the lobby. All of the rooms feature blonde wood furniture, gray tile floors, and walls painted a soothing Caribbean blue to coordinate with window treatments and sofa coverings in a similar shade.
The queen-size platform beds are wrapped with white sheets and topped with two sets of pillows and peppy palm print accent pillows in hues of orange, yellow, and blue, colors used in traditional Creole homes. The rooms are designed to sleep couples or families, as two children can sleep on the sofa trundle bed. The kitchens are sunny and bright, finished with yellow cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, white dinnerware, and all of the modern necessities needed to prepare and serve meals. Dining tables with three color-coordinated chairs are set on the shaded terraces.
The bathrooms are modern and stylish with walk-in showers with overhead and hand-held rain-shower heads, single (blue) vanities, and baskets of toiletries. The rooms also feature air-conditioning, telephones, flat-screen TVs, and red closets with safes, irons, and ironing boards.
Features
A hillside pool and continental breakfast delivered to the doorstep
In Le Panoramic's small lobby guests will find a knowledgeable staff that is well-connected in the community and willing to assist guests with restaurant recommendations as well as advise on what to do and see on the island. While the beach is just a short, two-minute drive, the hotel also has a private pool set among the flowering hillside, overlooking the sea.
