Bottom Line

The two-pearl, no-frills Hotel Lima Marbella has 64 spacious but dated rooms in an excellent location just a few minutes' walk to the beach and old town. Guests are also within easy walking distance of countless bars, restaurants, and shops, though this central setting can also mean unwanted nighttime noise. Rooms are equipped with furnished balconies, air-conditioning, mini-fridges, and flat-screen TVs, but they're showing wear. A continental breakfast is served here, but don't expect a full restaurant, or a gym or pool for that matter. This property offers a great value, but it's worth comparing rates at the Aparthotel Puerto Azul Marbella, which has a more modern aesthetic and pool.

Scene

No-frills hotel with dated decor but good value

Hotel Lima Marbella's seven-story building commands its corner of the street with a rounded edge and balconies all the way up. Inside, the lobby's peach-colored walls, rattan reception desk, and brochure racks are a good indicator of the dated decor throughout. The hallways and dining room are similarly tired, with mismatched patterned armchairs and worn leather chairs, though a vintage typewriter and cash register add some character. Potted plants and lots of artwork also add a warm vibe. This is definitely a no-frills establishment, with little to do on-site, but its location is hard to beat for the price.

Location

Centrally located among bars and restaurants, quick stroll to beach

The convenient location is Hotel Lima Marbella's crowning feature. The beach and its promenade is just a few minutes' walk away, as is the historic old town. There are countless bars and restaurants in really any direction, however, this also means that street noise at night can be a problem. The Malaga Airport is 40 minutes away by car.

Rooms

Basic, dated rooms with Andalusian style

Basic guests rooms don't provide much style and there's little in the way of amenities, but they're spacious and clean. Muted colors throughout make the room feel dull, though artwork and patterned chairs in some add a much-needed dose of personality. Dark-wood furniture is in typical Andalusian style, and pops against the light colored walls and floors. Glass doors leading to the furnished balconies help to fill the room with natural light and brighten up the spaces.  All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, mini-fridges, small flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are unsurprisingly lackluster, with neutral-tone tiles, curtained walk-in showers or shower/tub combos, bidets, free bath products, and hair-dryers. In addition to being dated, some room furnishings are showing wear. Also note that use of safes requires a fee.

Features

Free Wi-Fi throughout and a rooftop solarium, but little else

Since the beach is within walking distance, perhaps guests won't be so disappointed to find that there isn't a pool on-site. A spacious rooftop solarium does provide a sunny lounging spot, with sunbeds, green turf, and potted plants lining the deck. There's no full restaurant, but a breakfast room has plush (though old-fashioned) armchairs, as well as standard dining tables. Previous guests have described the breakfast as basic but tasty. Hotel Lima Marbella also offers free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, and most previous guests have said that the service is good and reliable. A gym is notably missing, but guests can rent bicycles on-site.
