Bottom Line

The mid-range Jury’s Inn Manchester is a contemporary, affordable option near the Manchester Central Convention Complex and Bridgewater Hall. Thanks to 2017 renovations, the 265 rooms are fresh and stylish, as are common areas and the all-day restaurant serving an extensive menu of fare like burgers and fish. All rooms have upbeat decor, flat-screen TVs, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and bulk toiletries. Two meeting rooms are also on-site, but the hotel lacks a gym and any wellness facilities. There are many restaurant and bars nearby, plus it's a 14-minute walk to the Arnsdale shopping mall. Travelers looking to stay in a similar hotel closer to the city center might want to try the Holiday Inn Express Manchester City Centre Arena.

Scene

2017-renovated property that's modern and attractive

The Jurys Inn Manchester benefited immensely from a major revamp in 2017, which swapped its dated, bland interiors for a fresh look. Expect lots of wood -- both painted and natural -- vibrant accent colors in walls and decor, and personality from framed photos, mini ceramic planters, and antique briefcases acting as shelves. The lobby has self check-in computer screens, which some guests find convenient and others find lacks a personal touch and creates confusion. A sitting area has chic armchairs and couches in varying fabrics and colors. Downstairs, the Oddsocks restaurant and bar has more artfully mismatched chairs and leather banquettes, plus industrial-themed decor. Both business and leisure travelers come here for the fairly central location and affordable rates.

Location

Great location by Bridgewater Hall and convention center

One of the strongest aspects of the Jurys Inn Manchester is its location by Manchester Central Convention Complex and Bridgewater Hall concert venue. Additionally, it's a seven-minute walk to Deansgate and its train station, and within easy reach of numerous restaurants, bars, and shops. The Arndale shopping mall, which is packed with stores, is a 14-minute walk from the hotel. A bus stop is also just a minute away. Manchester Piccadilly Station is about a 10-minute drive away, and roughly the same by public transportation. Manchester Airport is a 30-minute drive or 40 minutes via public transportation from the property.

Rooms

Fresh rooms with attractive decor and kettles

The renovations in 2017 brought an attractive, hip design to the rooms. They're all decorated similarly, with carpeted floors, brick- or wood-effect accent walls, light-wood furniture, and vibrant pops of lime green and purple in seating areas and throw pillows. Modern artwork adds a pleasant touch. Some rooms are on the small side, but all have flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, tea- and coffee-making facilities, comfy beds, and free Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, mini-fridges and kettles are not provided. Straightforward bathrooms have shower/tub combos, bulk toiletries, and hairdryers. Note that some guests have complained of occasional noise issues and problems with heating in the winter.

Features

All-day restaurant and meeting rooms

As most visitors spend their days sightseeing or in business meetings, the Jurys Inn Manchester is unsurprisingly light on amenities. The Oddsocks restaurant is a pleasant spot for a bite, and although not included, breakfast buffets are popular. A la carte meals for lunch and dinner, consisting of fare like burgers, nachos, fish and chips, and salads, are also available. Two meeting rooms are on-site, the larger of which can seat 50 people comfortably, plus there is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. On the downside, there are no fitness or wellness facilities of any kind.
