Bottom Line

The 12 rooms at the upscale La Torretta hotel are beautiful with such elegant touches as four-poster beds and tall floral headboards. With a free evening aperitif and a couple of terraces to watch the sun set, it's a particularly good pick for a romantic stay. The bed and breakfast is located on the church square in Manarola, one of five fishing villages that make up Cinque Terre. The marina and train station are a short walk downhill, but there are several stairs to climb at the hotel, which may make it a challenge to navigate for some travelers.

Scene

Elegant lobby and romantic terraces

La Torretta has an elegant, chic lobby with well-curated decorative pieces, such as colorful vases along the window, a white distressed front desk with marble top, and a collage wall of framed pictures. Outside a black chalkboard lists the dates and times of free tours in the area. Gorgeous outdoor stairways with metal rails and purple and pink flowers leads guests to terraces facing the ocean and grassy seaside hills. Romance is in the air in the evenings as guests drink free aperitifs on the wooden lounge chairs while taking in the sunset.

Location

Off the church square in seaside village

Located in one of the five fishing villages that make up Cinque Terre, steps away from the tall bell tower and old church in the square of Manarola, the hotel is a short, downhill walk to the marina and Manarola train station. It is less than a two-hour drive to Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport.

Rooms

Beautiful, airy rooms with lovely details

The rooms at La Torretta are beautiful and elegant, and were obviously decorated by someone with an eye for detail and a knack for interior design. The Junior Suite, with bedside lamps made of antlers and zebra- themed photos and pillows in the sitting area, is particularly inspiring. There’s also a small furnished terrace with flower boxes full of purple flowers and an elegant bathroom with double pedestal sinks. Some rooms have ocean views. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations, Nespresso coffee machines, and free minibars stocked with soft drinks. Wi-Fi is available for a fee.

Features

Gorgeous views, free aperitif, and train station transfer on a golf cart

La Torretta offers gorgeous views from two separate terraces with couches, tables, and wooden lounge chairs. One terrace is covered, so guests can still take in the views even in bad weather. Free transfers are provided from the train station on a golf cart, breakfast includes chocolate croissants, and a free aperitif is served in the evenings.
