The Vanity Hotel Golf hotel is an upscale, adult-only property set in the popular resort area of Port d'Alcudia, overlooking its sweeping sandy bay. Its 117 rooms are spacious and smart, with luxury touches such as espresso machines and pillow menus; nearly all extend to balconies with at least partial sea views. Superb rooftop panoramic terraces with whirlpool tubs feature in the duplex suites. Breakfast is a highlight and free Cava at the swish bar is a popular perk; the abundance of loungers and daybeds is also appreciated by guests. The ambience might feel a little too "grown-up" for younger adults, however, who might be more at home at the more stylish and sexy (and also child-free) Hotel Astoria Playa -- though it's a walk to the beach.
Scene
Polished adult-only hotel with peaceful ambience and beach-view garden
An sense of serenity pervades Vanity Hotel Golf, not in a small degree due to it being entirely child-free. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the lobby with natural light, while calming neutral tones combine with swathes of polished travertine stone. The front desk is topped with fresh flowers and pyramid of colorful fruit. In the corner, a small indoor garden atrium mixes tropical plants with glass flowers, where by day sunlight filters through a stained glass skylight. By night candle lanterns add a touch of fairy-garden ambience. A pair of glass-sided elevators transport guests to bright landings dotted with plants on one of four floors. To the rear are the two swimming pools, surrounded by palm trees and other subtropical plants. Also populating the tidy gardens are dozens of loungers, parasols, and daybeds, ensuring there's little chance of their shortage, though making the area feel crowded. Just the other side of a low hedge, however, is a beachfront footpath and huge expanse of the sweeping sandy bay of Port d'Alcudia.
Location
Close to Port d'Alcudia resort center overlooking wide sandy beach
The hotel is located on the main road that runs parallel with the huge sandy beach and sweeping bay that of the popular resort of Port d'Alcudia. While not quite as upmarket as its the nearby Port de Pollenca, the town is a pleasantly laid-back mix of tourist restaurants, bars, and hotels. The resort center and majority of its dining and nightlife is just a few minutes walk away from the hotel, while guests have practically direct access to the strikingly wide beach -- also famed for its calm and particularly shallow waters. The towns port and marina are also within easy walking distance, while a five-minute drive away is the Hidropark water park. The nearest golf course is a 10-minute drive away. Also accessible by car is the pretty town of Pollenca, a 15- to 20-minute drive, while the island's capital Palma de Mallorca and the main airport are at least 45 minutes.
Rooms
Top-end duplex suites with whirlpool tub sea-view terraces
The hotel has 117 spacious rooms and suites, all of which are decorated in a conservative yet contemporary mix of polished marble floors, glass-topped tables, and patterned fabrics. A palette of muted browns, nature-themed photo art, and reptile skin-effect headboards add earthy elements. All rooms open to furnished terraces, most overlooking the pool, beach, and bay beyond (though some lateral-view rooms get more wall than sea view). Duplex Royal Terrace Suites feature top-floor terraces with superb bay-view panoramas, as well as daybeds, whirlpool tubs, and loungers.In-room amenities include 32-inch flat-screen TVs (with a few English-speaking channels), mini-fridges, and Senseo coffee machines; extra upscale comforts such as thick bathrobes, pillow menus, and bedside climate control also come as standard. Bathrooms are clad in marble, with twin basins, shower/tub combos, and generic hotel-branded toiletries; reports suggest some bathrooms are small. Wi-Fi is free of charge and speeds are mostly good, though it can depend on room location.
Features
Choice of buffet and a la carte dining, plus outdoor pools and hot tub
Many guests praise the hotel's extensive buffet breakfast, which includes plenty of hot and cold dishes as well as two live cooking stations, one offering freshly made omelets and crepes and the other healthy fruit- and vegetable-based options. Breakfast is always included in the rate, while a half-board plan includes a dinner buffet. The restaurant extends to a poolside decking area and covered terrace. Inside, the swish Blue Moon Lounge Bar, which has a white grand piano and huge TV, offers an a la carte lunch menu as well as nightly entertainment and free Cava to guests. Another eatery, the sea-view Mirablau Restaurant, is also open to the public (including families with kids); its menu focuses on grilled meats and seafood. The hotel's two mosaic pools are separated by a low rock wall. One provides a gentle ramp for easy access while the other is just about large enough for a swim. There are numerous loungers, parasols, and daybeds available, as well as a spacious hot tub overlooking a mini-golf course. As the name suggests, the hotel also specializes in organizing golf excursions to local courses (the closest golf course is a 10-minute drive away). There's also a small spa offering the usual range of massage and beauty treatments. Cyclists have access to a secure garage for bike storage.
