Bottom Line

The 140-room upscale Nautic Hotel is a modern seaside property with
an urban contemporary feel. The hotel overlooks the Bay of Palma marina near
beautiful beaches, with plenty of shops and restaurants within walking
distance. The Nautic’s rooftop deck has a small, elegant pool and wooden deck
lined with sunshades and sunbeds, and a stylish cocktail bar. There are also two restaurants, and a spa with a hot tub in an attractive atrium space. Guest rooms are clean and moderately
sized, with chic modern bathrooms, and private balconies, many with sea views. It's worth comparing rates with BQ Hotel Apolo, which had full renovations in 2013 and offers a free buffet breakfast.

Scene

Graphic, nautical decor, lots of space, and a chic roof terrace with pool and cocktail area

The Nautic Hotel is modern and minimalist,
with an urban feel that is unexpected and appealing for the seaside. The Nautic is decorated in
strong shades of black, white, and bright red, with graphic touches, a lot of
chrome, and large black-and-white photographs of ships and other nautical
subject matter. The lobby is spacious, with clusters of black or red leather
armchairs for socializing or enjoying one of the bar’s signature cocktails. The
rooftop pool is chic, with white sunshades that resemble sails, comfortable
sunbeds, an inviting double-size sunbed with a canopy, and picturesque marina
views. There is a glass-and-chrome cocktail bar, and a shaded terrace area with
sofas and armchairs. Kids are welcome, but, aside from a playground, there are
no kid-specific activities, and the vibe is far more quiet and relaxed than the
area resorts, which makes this a good spot for couples. The spa has touches of Zen and Buddhist decor, which complements
the simplicity of the rest of the hotel, and the peaceful scenery outside.

Location

Overlooking the Bay of Palma, near the beach, and convenient to the Palma airport

The Nautic Hotel is in the seaside town of Can Pastilla, overlooking the Bay of Palma and San Antonia de la Playa Marina. There are shops, restaurants, and bars in the immediate area. Cala Estancia Beach is a one-minute walk from the hotel, and there's a bus stop a three-minute walk away for getting to other area beaches and sights, including the busy capital of Palma, which has a thriving nightlife scene and is about a 20-minute ride. Palma Aquarium is a 10-minute drive away. The Nautic is also 10 minutes' drive from the airport.

Rooms

Stylish, clean, and modern, with private balconies and luxury bathrooms

Rooms at the Nautic Hotel are spotless and
stylish with a contemporary feel. Doubles, Junior Suites, and Family Rooms are
available. Guest rooms have wood floors and are decorated in chic nautical
style, in shades of red, white, and black. Each room has a private balcony; the
sea view option is worth it, as many of the lower-priced rooms have views of
brick walls or into neighboring apartments. In addition, rooms at the back of
the hotel are smaller and have no views to speak of. Family Rooms have more
open space, and additional seating areas with couches and armchairs. Bathrooms
are handsome and updated, with dark paint and tilework, red counters, and luxe
shower/tub combos (or glass-door stall showers). Although the bathrooms tend to be narrow, they have a
spacious and upscale feel. Most Double Rooms have beds that are two singles
pushed together; guests who prefer true double beds should request them in
advance. Standard amenities include (occasionally unreliable) air-conditioning, flat-screen
TVs with satellite channels, minibars, free toiletries, desks, and safes (though safe use incurs a fee).

Features

Spa with nice hot tub, beach access, rooftop pool and cocktail bar, and two restaurants

The Nautic Hotel offers a full-service spa
with a hot tub in a bright atrium space, as well as a hammam, sauna, and treatment menu that includes aromatherapy,
massage, and beauty services. There is a wide beach with rows of sunbeds and
plenty of room to stroll. The rooftop terrace has a small but pretty pool
and wooden deck, surrounded by sun shades and lounge chairs. There's a rooftop
cocktail bar serving sandwiches, salads, and other light dishes, and an area
furnished with sofas and armchairs for enjoying the view of the marina with a
drink. The fitness center is roomy and clean, with a variety of cardio and
weight equipment. There's a lobby cafe serving coffees, teas, and frozen
yogurt treats. The Nautic has two restaurants: a buffet that offers themed
menus each evening, and the A-Lounge Bar and A La Carte Restaurant, where there's live music two to three times a week. The hotel games room has old-fashioned
card tables, and there's a TV room.
The Nautic has fully equipped meeting and conference facilities that are modern
and upbeat, not stodgy or depressing. Bikes are also available for guests, as well. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
