Eix Platja Daurada

The Hotel Eix Platja Daurada is a large bright seaside resort that is
often fully booked, and is especially popular with German and Spanish tourists. The hotel
is clean and airy, with large picture windows, and lots of lobby skylights.
Although the hotel is older, the sleek, predominately white decor, and bright
sunlight give it a modern, timeless vibe. The sound of waves can be heard from the
open areas and sea view rooms. The two large pools and two smaller plunge pools
are the resort’s focal points, but there's often a fight to reserve sunbed
space the minute the gates open in the morning. Luckily, there are beautiful
beaches with plenty of space within a minute’s walk over a picturesque wooden
walkway. The sand is lined with straw palapas, and there's a snack bar for
those who want to spend the day by the surf. There are a variety of places to
socialize or soak up the sun, but the energetic activities team pumps loud
music -- and announcements -- into the common areas during much of the day and the atmosphere is
neither peaceful nor quiet. In the evenings, there is live entertainment and
dancing in indoor and outdoor bar areas. The overall vibe is busy, fun, and
upscale, with plenty of sun and sand.

The Hotel Eix Platja Daurada is located on the north end of the island of Mallorca, at the center of the Bay of Alcudia. The center of town is a 10-minute walk from the hotel, but Ca'n Picafort Beach is less than a minute's walk across a pretty wooden walkway. The Eix Platja Daurada is well located for enjoying the island -- it's about a 20-minute drive from the wetlands of S'Albufereta and its bird sanctuary, and a 17-minute drive from the Hidropark water park. The Golf Pollensa golf course is a 25-minute drive away. There's a bus and local trolley stop right outside the hotel's entrance.

The 310 rooms at the Hotel Eix Platja Daurada come in
three varieties: Singles, Doubles, and Apartments, all with private balconies or terraces that have either full sea views, side sea views, woods views, or street views. Decor is simple and bright, with a
shabby-chic vibe, and either wood or white-tile floors. Many of the guest rooms
were updated in 2013, with large black-and-white photo murals depicting sand dunes
behind the beds, which are made up with gray coverlets so that they appear
to be nestled along the beach. Bathrooms, too, have been refurbished, with walk-in showers
and modern fixtures for a luxe feel. Apartments have separate sitting areas
with sofa beds, and kitchenettes with two-burner cooktops, small refrigerators,
cookware, and dishes, as well as updated bathrooms that feel more upscale than
the rest of the space. All rooms include air-conditioning, small flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, mini-fridges, free Wi-Fi, and safes (though safes incur an additional fee).

The Hotel Eix Platja Daurada features two large,
beautiful outdoor pools with sunbeds and two cold water plunge pools, as well
as a children’s pool alongside them. Guests should note that pools close in the early evening. There's a spa with a pretty indoor pool that has windows on one
wall, and lounge chairs lining the other, as well as a sauna and whirlpool. A small on-site gym is also available for guests looking to get in a workout. The
kids club keeps the younger set occupied, and there's also a playground for children, and a spacious game room with video games, pool tables, and ping-pong. The restaurant
serves buffet style food, and there are both bed-and-breakfast and half-board options. In
addition, there is a thatched-roof pizzeria for homemade snacks all day long,
and a snack bar at the beach. Cars, motorbikes, and bicycles can be rented on the
premises. The hotel has several shops, including a convenience store with
snacks, groceries, beach toys, postcards, and plenty of beer and wine; there's also a
jewelry shop for fancier souvenirs or spur-of-the-moment gifts. Daily
entertainment -- including live music, shows, and dancing in the evenings -- is a fixture of the property.
