Hotel Ciutat Jardi

This 20-room hotel is housed in an early 19th-century mansion that certainly makes a great first impression. That Old-World style carries over inside, with mixed effect. The lobby is packed with antiques like grandfather clocks, as well as comfortable sofas and chairs, plus large potted plants to create a relaxed feel. Color schemes are neutral and soothing throughout, with just a few splashes of color in some seating, artwork, and accessories. The charming patio, with its pool and outdoor bar, is a highlight according to many previous guests. It's a fine place to soak up Majorca's abundant sunshine. As the hotel is set in a quiet neighborhood, away from Palma’s city center, the main guests here tend to be couples who don't need to be amid lots of hustle and bustle. However, the proximity to the beach means that it’s not uncommon for families and friends to pass through as well. 

The hotel is situated in the Ciudad Jardin (Ciutat Jardi) area of Coll d'en Rabassa, a suburb of Majorca's capital city, Palma. It's a quiet and mostly residential neighborhood with a plethora of seafood restaurants and local bars. The white sandy beach is just a minute on foot from the hotel’s front door, and the lovely fishing village of Portixol can be reached in around 10 minutes by car or cab. The cobblestone streets of Palma’s old town are a 15-minute drive away, where you'll find the city's beautiful cathedral. The hotel offers bicycle rentals and there are bike paths along the seafront that lead directly to the city center in around 20 to 25 minutes. Budget 15 minutes by taxi or car to reach the airport from here (though that proximity does mean a bit of low-flying plane noise).

The 20 rooms at the Hotel Ciutat Jardi are bright and get lots of natural light, helping to make them a pleasant option in this part of town. The style is a bit old school and dated, and the rooms are decorated in neutral tones, with contrasting of blue and gold hues in curtains, bed throws, and other accessories. There's hardwood furniture throughout. Rooms vary in size and there are Standard and Superior options, all with flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Some larger units also add mini-fridges. Some rooms offer terraces and/or sea views -- we suggest opting for these, as the sight is quite a gorgeous thing to behold. Bathrooms are tiled in earth colors and are likewise a bit dated, with shower/tub combos and a decent amount of glass counter space. Free toiletries are provided, as are wall-mounted hairdryers. 

There are enough features at this hotel to make it a decent pick for the area. The courtyard is a particularly lovely spot, with shaded loungers and sunny spots to accompany the small pool, which also has a small poolside bar. A restaurant is on the ground floor -- with a second bar -- and guests can relax over drinks here, or out on the patio during warmer months. The hotel does not offer lunches or evening meals, but a continental buffet breakfast is included in the rates and offers a range of cold meats, cheeses, breads, fruits, tea, and coffee. Breakfast can also be taken on the patio in warmer months. Space can be booked for conferences or events -- such as weddings -- and facilities and spacious and well decorated. Airport transfers can be arranged (for a fee), and local parking is easier to find as the hotel does not sit within the downtown area. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
