There are 269 guest rooms at this three-pearl property, a short walk
from the beach in the center of Santa Ponsa. The location is ideal for those
wanting to have the beach at the doorstep, while also being surrounded by the town's bars, restaurants,
and shops. Rooms are basic and dated, but have balconies,
air-conditioning, and modern flat-screen TVs. Like most of the mid-range options in town, there are a good range of activities and amenities on offer including an indoor and outdoor pool, bar, buffet restaurant, and pizzeria, though food here isn't great and entertainment leaves a lot to be desired. For something with a bit more charm and better entertainment in the same price range, try the nearby H10 Playas de Mallorca.
Scene
Family-friendly hotel ideal with dated style and lackluster entertainment
While most hotels in Santa Ponsa ride the line between pleasant and dated -- and this hotel is no exception to that rule -- this isn't the best option in town. For all ostensible purposes, it looks like most of the competition. Public interiors include a generically modern lobby with a wide, marble
reception desk, marble flooring, and wooden paneling on some of the walls.
There are a large number of comfortable couches and armchairs in pale red and
blue fabrics, and a decent amount of light coming in through the floor to ceiling windows (though low ceilings mitigate this effect). There's little difference in style throughout most of the hotel's public areas, and everything is fine enough, though unremarkable. Unfortunately, while it remains a popular choice in Santa Ponsa, everything from mediocre food to lackluster entertainment bring the atmosphere down. The hotel is popular with couples and families who want to eat, drink, relax by
the pool, and soak up the sun at sometimes reasonable rates. It mainly attracts European visitors, and many take
advantage of the hotel's all-inclusive option.
Location
A stone’s throw from the beach, in the center of Santa Ponsa
The Hotel Globales Santa Ponsa Park is just a two-minute walk from the
stunning white sand of Santa Ponsa Beach on Majorca's southwestern coast. Within
a five to 10-minute walk are a range of bars, shops, and restaurants, from
international fast food chains like McDonald’s and Burger King through to
traditional Spanish tapas restaurants and Italian pizzerias. Golf Santa Ponsa
golf course is a seven-minute drive from the hotel, and Marineland Mallorca,
with its dolphin and sea lion shows, and extensive aquariums is a 10-minute
drive. The lively party town of Magaluf is just a five-minute taxi ride away,
the capital of Majorca, Palma is a 20-minute drive. Expect drives to Palma de Mallorca Airport to take around 25 minutes.
Rooms
Basic, dated, and bright, with flat-screen TVs and balconies
Again, it's not uncommon to find dated rooms in Santa Ponsa -- the town is a mid-range hotel have -- and those at Hotel Globales don't deviate from the local trend. The style is basic, with blue-green bedspreads and light wood-veneer furniture with simple lines. Floral wall art does little to up the charm factor, but it at least makes things feel a bit less spartan, while industrial carpeting lines the floor. Rooms are bright, at least, benefitting from a white and blue-green color scheme and large windows, and every room has a balcony with views of the local area. All rooms include air-conditioning, ceiling fans, safes, and flat-screen TVs with
satellite channels. Wi-Fi is available, but it’s not free in the rooms. Bathrooms have a
shower/tub combo, plenty of counter space around the basin, toiletries, and a
hairdryer. The tan tiling and tan quartz accents all feel as dated as the rooms.
Features
Indoor and outdoor pool, buffet restaurant, and pizzeria
The hotel has an informal buffet restaurant which is open for
breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A range of salads, fresh fish and meats, and
desserts are served -- although the food gets mixed reviews from guests. The
restaurant also hosts theme nights. The hotel also has a casual pizzeria which
is an open-air restaurant where guests can have a freshly made pizza, as well
as pastas, salads and drinks. A pool bar serves drinks all day and evening too.
Room service is available as well, and the hotel does offer all-inclusive packages. A bit more impressive than the dining options is the outdoor swimming pool and hot tub. It's a large space that's well kept and is surrounded by plenty of lounge chairs. There's also a separate children’s pool, and an indoor pool with a sauna. An entertainment
team hosts daily activities, games, and competitions, and at night they put on
shows for both adults and children. Like the food, the entertainment doesn't garner the best reviews. Also on-site at the property are a kids
club, massage tent, entertainment lounge with flat-screen TV and
computer stations. While business guests aren't frequent in Santa Ponsa, there is a meeting room and boardroom. Free
parking is available and there's free Wi-Fi in the public areas.
