The 37-room luxury Fontsanta Hotel, Thermal
Spa & Wellness is a historic, adult-only destination spa built around healing
thermal springs in use since the Roman era. Located in the countryside
surrounded by nature preserves, the Fontsanta is elegant and high-end. Guest rooms are light, clean, and modern, with private balconies or
terraces, and posh bathrooms. Peaceful and full of character, the Fontsanta caters mainly to couples, who may not feel the need to leave the hotel during
their stay. For a more typical beach-centric Mallorcan vacation, travelers could try the luxury Hotel Nixe Palace.
Scene
A spa destination with healing hot springs and a foodie's dream
The Fontsanta Hotel, Thermal Spa &
Wellness is the definition of a destination day spa -- a place where guests can rest up,
eat well, and live large. The main building was built in the 19th century; it has been restored and renovated to combine modern comforts with an
old Spanish vibe. The surrounding buildings have retained the historic feel,
and grounds are beautifully landscaped with lush green lawns, wildflower
gardens, and winding stone pathways. The Fontsanta is adjacent to a nature
preserve, but there's a busy road nearby, and traffic noise is the only harsh
reality to permeate the hotel’s well-cultivated Zen. There's a reason guests
return to the Fontsanta again and again. The lobby and common areas feature
wide open spaces, high ceilings, wood beams, and hardwood floors. There are
interesting sculptures and modern paintings around the lobby and grounds, and
coffee table art books in the library area. The two outdoor pools have lovely
stone decks with cushy sunbeds and elegant white beach umbrellas. Guests who
want more privacy can stake out one of the daybed areas with private hot tubs located around the grounds. The bar’s terrace features comfy egg-shaped wicker
chairs, and the restaurant offers foodie-quality gourmet dining under the
stars. Then there's the spa, done in whites and creams, with beautiful peaked
roofs, large windows, and a general aura of romance, like a little Spanish
chapel of Zen. The thermal hot tub is in a stunning vaulted
stone cave. There is a window in the sauna, and a solarium is lined with inviting
loungers. Clientele is mainly vacationing couples.
Location
Surrounded by nature preserves, near one of the world's most beautiful beaches
The Fontsanta Hotel, Thermal Spa &
Wellness is located in the Colonia de Sant Jordi neighborhood of Campos, on the
south end of Mallorca. The area is secluded, but there's a grill restaurant
located across the street. The Fontsanta is adjacent to Es Salobrar de Campos, a nature preserve
with 130 salt ponds. Less than two miles away, or an 11-minute drive, is Es Trenc, one of Mallorca’s
most famous beaches, perhaps one of the best in the world. Es Trenc is a
protected beach, and there's a nudist section. The Palma Airport is a 30-minute drive.
Rooms
Luxury modern spa decor, with gorgeous open-plan bathrooms
Rooms at the Fontsanta Hotel, Thermal Spa
& Wellness come in a variety of sizes and layouts, from Doubles to Luxury
Villas. Some have romantic pitched roofs; others are duplexes. Most have
furnished balconies or patios with lovely views of the countryside. The decor
combines traditional and modern aesthetics; the vibe is chic, peaceful, and
expensive, with hardwood floors, white linens, quality wood furnishings, and
light, relaxing colors. The open-plan bathrooms are spotless and modern, in
rich beige marble and stone, with huge open showers and soaking tubs. Amenities
include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs with interactive features, minibars,
high-end toiletries, safes, and nightly turndown service. Guests may want to
request rooms away from the main road to avoid traffic noise.
