Cabau Bahia Camp de Mar Suites is a relaxed and upscale boutique hotel with a Mediterranean vibe. It’s perched above the ocean and is connected to the beach via a small path and stairs. The property’s 64 Suites are a mix of updated and dated styles, though all include kitchenettes, balconies or terraces, air-conditioning, and sofa beds. There’s a fine-dining restaurant and a buffet restaurant, hot breakfast buffets throughout the week, a pool, and a spa. Downsides include deposits for pool towels and a charge for safes. Travelers could compare rates with H10 Blue Mar, an adult-only property with a free breakfast buffet and a gym.
Scene
Mediterranean hotel spread across multiple levels with ocean views
This beautiful Mediterranean-style hotel sits on a rocky coastline surrounded by grass and trees. The buildings are laid out in escalated blocks on different levels, which mimics a typical Mediterranean village, and allows for wonderful ocean views from all the rooms, pool, restaurant, and spa. Unfortunately, the design makes it difficult for people with mobility issues as the Suites are only accessible by stairs. The lobby has a Spanish Mediterranean vibe with glossy stone floors, wood-slated ceilings, glass-enclosed seating area with trendy outdoor furniture, and Spanish tiled roofing. The restaurant is more modern with a gray and pink color scheme and simple wooden tables. With apartment-like Suites, the hotel attracts mostly couples and families during the hotel’s open season from late January to early November.
Location
Oceanfront location with a short walk to the beach
Cabau Bahia Camp de Mar Suites is located in the resort town of Camp de Mar, an upscale area that has attracted many celebrities over the years. The hotel has an oceanfront location and is connected to the beach by a small path. There’s a handful of restaurants within a four-minute walk away, but travelers will need a car to reach additional dining options. It takes 11 minutes to reach the Andratx Golf course. Palma and its gothic Bellver Castle are a 25-minute drive away and Palma Cathedral is a 30-minute drive. It’s a 31-minute drive to Palma de Mallorca Airport.
Rooms
Suites with balconies, kitchenettes, and flat-screen TVs
The Suites at this hotel vary quite a bit in decor, which isn’t always modern as only the Junior Suites were updated in 2016. These sport a pleasing design with white floors, posh brown cabinetry, blue or cream sofas, and blue accents in art pieces, pillows, and small blankets. Sea Side Suites and Standard Suites differ with brown tiled floors, simple white furniture, dark gray bedding, and kitchenettes with blond wooden cabinets. All rooms have air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, balconies or terraces, and kitchenettes with microwaves, toasters, mini-fridges, two-burner stove tops, utensils, and dining ware. Only Sea Side Suites and Junior Suites are provided with free beach towels, Dulce Gusto coffee machines, and bathrobes. Like the rooms, Junior Suites have a chic bathroom design. However, all rooms include shower/tub combos or rainfall showers, toiletries, and bidets. Standard Suites are a bit cramped and twin beds are pushed together to make a double bed. There have been complaints about the effectiveness of housekeeping and safes cost extra to use.
Features
Pool, children's pool, spa, restaurants, free Wi-Fi, mini-mart, and children's playground
There are a number of features at Cabau Bahia Camp de Mar Suites, which is good news, as the neighborhood is limited in things to do. The highlight here is an outdoor pool with lovely ocean views, a children’s pool, and plenty of loungers. Pool towels are free with a deposit. For the winter, guests can use the spa’s indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, and showers. Beauty treatments and massages are offered as well. There’s no gym on-site. The hotel provides a few dining options like Olea Restaurant, updated in 2014, which has a morning breakfast buffet with English, continental, and gluten-free options. The breakfast costs a fee or can be included in the half-board or bed-and-breakfast option as the restaurant also offers an evening buffet meal. The hotel’s Flor de Sal restaurant provides a more upscale dining experience with Mediterranean cuisine, complemented by Asian influences. It services the pool too. Other perks include free Wi-Fi and parking, a small library, a mini-mart to stock the in-room kitchenettes, and a small children’s playground.
