Bottom Line

The 117-room Blue Sea Hotel Don Jaime is a reasonably priced, all-inclusive value hotel a short walk from the beach of Cala Millor. The hotel's variety of room types makes it especially well-suited to larger families and groups, and a few apartment-style options come with the added convenience of kitchenettes. Other family-friendly features include a kids' pool, a playground, and organized activities for children. However, the decor is dated, especially compared to Hotel Blue Sea La Pinta, its sister property up the road. Similarly priced and a bit fresher, La Pinta is geared more towards adults, as it doesn't offer any special amenities or entertainment for children.

Scene

Dated, arguably gaudy property popular with large families

There's a lone pay phone looming next to the front doors of the Hotel Don Jaime, which doesn't bode well for its ability to modernize. Inside the lobby, the property's gaudy marble floors, dated chandelier, and two ancient coin-operated Internet terminals give the hotel the vibe of existing in a past era. However, despite its cosmetic deficiencies, Don Jaime is clean and in good condition. It's popular with vacationing families and people looking for a simple, sunny, all-inclusive property near the beach.

Location

Enviable location in Cala Millor, a two-minute walk from the beach

The Blue Sea Hotel Don Jaime is in Cala Millor, a charming area of Mallorca surrounded by beautiful water, a bustling beachfront promenade, and loads of local shops, restaurants, bars, plus a few bigger chain establishments, including a Burger King. The hotel is on a quiet street, ta two-minute walk from all of the action, including a sandy beach with calm waters and big crowds. The hotel is on the complete opposite end of the island from Palma, and is a one-hour drive from the airport.

Rooms

Spacious rooms with big balconies, some with kitchenettes

The Blue Sea Hotel Don Jaime offers several different types of rooms that are especially well-suited to larger parties. The Family Room is a good option for groups who want to self-cater, as it comes with a small but nicely equipped kitchen with a mini-fridge, a two-burner stove, an electric kettle, and a good selection of crockery and utensils. The furniture in rooms is old and worn and looks like it could have been picked up at a garage sale, but the natural light that comes in through the sliding doors warms up the atmosphere. Balconies are large enough to fit at least a table and two chairs and are flanked by divider walls that provide a good degree of privacy. Bathrooms have shower/tub combos, but lack hairdryers.

Features

Nice pool, spacious dining area, playground and arcade for children

There isn't much that sets the Blue Sea Hotel Don Jaime apart from other budget all-inclusive properties in Mallorca, aside from its pleasant pool that is surrounded by lounge chairs and nicely trimmed bushes. There's also an attached kids' pool and an outdoor patio bar that's especially popular with guests on all-inclusive drinking and dining packages. The indoor dining room is pleasant, with plenty of windows as well as tables with cheerful bright red tablecloths and high-backed wooden chairs and granite bar and buffet counters. Children's activities include a playground, a small arcade area with a pool table, and organized activities aimed at different age groups. There's also a beachfront promenade just outside the hotel, ideal for strolling or bike-riding along the water.
