Bottom Line
The 144-room Meadowmere Resort combines the charm of a classic New England inn with some of the added amenities of a ritzier hotel, including a large fitness center, spa treatments, an indoor Roman Bath, and game room. The rooms are standard in size and nicely furnished with classic wood furniture and florals. Located a bit south of the central Ogunquit area, the hotel is still within walking distance of shops and restaurants. There’s plenty of fun to be had at the resort itself, between the pools, barbecue pits, game room, and library, and the beach is 15 to 20 minutes away on foot.

Scene
The charm of a small inn with offerings of a larger property
Though large (with several separate buildings) and located in a beach town, the Meadowmere maintains a quaint charm. The lobby is decorated in dark greens, reds, golds and natural wood colors, with plants and flowers scattered around. Though the facility isn’t quite luxurious, it’s quiet and restful, and between the pools, barbecue pits, game room, and stadium-seating TV room, there’s something fun for almost everyone -- the hotel attracts around an equal mix of couples and families. The West Meadow Pub, the Meadowmere’s sparsely decorated restaurant, offers live entertainment on weekends.
Location
Off a quieter part of Main Street, but near the attractions
The Meadowmere is a few minutes' walk from the center of Ogunquit, but close enough to walk to shops and restaurants. The distance means the grounds remain quiet throughout the day and night, despite being located off the main road. The hotel is about a 15-to-20-minute walk from the beach, and the Meadowmere provides guests with retrofitted Red Flyer wagons to carry their belongings. The hotel’s back path also keeps beach-faring guests off the main road.
Rooms
Well-furnished, if somewhat dated in decor
The rooms are at the Meadowmere are standard in size, though large enough to include a small seating area and accent table. The furniture—backboards, dressers, and armoires—is attractive natural or dark wood, but the bedspreads and upholstery are quite dated in style. All rooms come with cable TV, Wi-FI, and a mini-fridge. The bathrooms are also standard in size, with a separated sink and bathroom area. The bathrooms include marble countertops and Natüra bath products. The Meadowmere has number of suites, too, with significantly nicer and more modern decor, including two-bedroom Family Suites, suites with bedside whirlpools, and extra-large Honeymoon Suites. Spa rooms are right off the fitness center, from which sound sometimes carries.
Features
A lot of fun packed into a simple resort
The Meadowmere has a lot to offer for a price that is not much higher than the other, less equipped hotels in the area. The hotel has a penchant for oddly shaped pools—the outdoor pool is rhomboidal, and its neighboring hot tub eggplant-shaped—but they are fairly large and heated. The game room, with billiards, air hockey, and a number of arcade games, will attract kids and adults alike, and those looking for a quieter spot can enjoy the small library off the lobby. While the spa is simple and not luxurious, it does offer massages by appointment, personal training, an indoor Roman Bath, and the sauna. The gym equipment is several years old, but the space is larger than typical for the Ogunquit inns, with several cardio machines, numerous weight machines, and free weights.
