Elmwood Resort Hotel is an upper-middle-range property with 80 privately owned one-, two-, and three-bedroom condos
with full kitchens. The hotel is a good pick for families, offering an outdoor heated pool, an indoor pool, and a small, sandy playground. There’s no restaurant

Scene

Condo complex popular with families in the summer and retirees in the off-season

Condos at Elmwood Resort
Hotel are located in long, two-story buildings with brick columns and white
balconies, while short and tall manicured bushes create an attractive boundary
between the buildings and the paved parking lot. Leafy trees make for a pretty
backdrop at the outdoor pool, where plastic lounge chairs are lined up on a
concrete deck offering a spot for guests to relax. A grassy lawn with circular
picnic benches and an outdoor fire pit hosts live music on some weekend nights.
Guests can also watch movies outdoors while enjoying free popcorn during the
summer. As the weather cools, families become less of a common sight at the
hotel, and retirees make up the majority of the patrons during the slower
season. A rustic space with wooden ceilings and walls houses the indoor pool and
sauna. The front desk occupies a simple room with tile floors, shelves lined with DVDs available for guests, and a rack of postcards for sale, all lending a cozy, familial vibe to this property.

Location

Between Kennebunk and Ogunquit, a five-minute drive from the beach

Elmwood Resort Hotel is located on Route 1 across from a Dunkin' Donuts.
There’s not much within walking distance, though the beach is only a five-minute drive from the hotel. During the summer, the beach trolley stops right outside the hotel, and makes trips to Kennebunk and Ogunquit. For guests with their own cars, the hotel is around a 15-minute drive north of Ogunquit
and a 10-minute drive south of Kennebunk -- both destinations offer sandy beaches,
restaurants, and shops. It’s a 30-minute drive to Portland International
Jetport, and Boston takes about an hour and 45 minutes to reach by car.

Rooms

Bright, privately owned condos with full kitchens

Condos at Elmwood Resort Hotel are privately-owned
with varying decor -- some are more dated than others. The units we visited had
homey furnishings like wooden dining tables, overstuffed couches with accent pillows, and framed
pictures of coastal scenery. There are nice touches, like wicker storage baskets and kitchen ceiling fans; in one room we visited, the seaside decor included pale blue accents and
seashells that were especially charming. Many rooms have wooden balconies furnished
with chairs and small side tables, and all units have full kitchens including
dishwashers, microwaves, ovens, refrigerators, toasters, tea kettles, and Keurig coffeemakers. Cookware and dishware are provided. One-, two-, and three-bedroom
condos are available, and all rooms have Serta Suite Dreams beds, flat-screen
TVs with DVD players, ironing facilities, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms have shower/tub combos and Bath & Body
Works toiletries. Some guests complain that the air-conditioning is loud, and
some units only have air-conditioners in the bedrooms. Unlike many apartment-style hotels, daily housekeeping is provided here.

Features

Indoor and outdoor pool, gas grills, fire pit, and outdoor movies

Elmwood Resort Hotel has a heated
outdoor pool and an indoor pool with a whirlpool and lounge chairs. The
property doesn’t have a fitness center on-site, but guests receive passes to a gym that’s a three-minute drive away. Gas grills are available for outdoor
cooking, and wooden picnic tables offer a spot to eat. The hotel has a sand lot
with a small playground equipped with swings and a slide, and there’s a corn
hole game set up for guests to play. The hotel has free parking and on-site
laundry machines. In the summer months, the hotel shows movies outdoors along with snacks, and there is live entertainment on occasion as well. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, but pets are not allowed. DVDs are also available for guests.
