Located on the lively Calle de Goya in Madrid's popular Salamanca neighborhood, the upper-mid-range Vincci Soma is a comfortable and stylish boutique chain hotel that attracts both tourists and business travelers, but has few extraordinary features. The hotel has a range of rooms for every length of stay: one-bedroom apartments with a full kitchen to a tiny single room. Common areas
and rooms share the same contemporary, minimalist design, with hardwood floors
and clean-lined furnishings. Some rooms have private furnished terraces with views of the city, while others can be a bit dark. Wi-Fi is free, and there’s
a notably good breakfast at the on-site restaurant, SoMa, although it's not included in most rates. The fitness center has
a sauna and there is room service and parking, but room service hours are
limited and parking is expensive.
Scene
Stylish but simple chain boutique hotel for both tourists and business travelers
A boutique chain hotel that caters to both tourists and business travelers, the Vincci Soma is decorated throughout with a modern, understated style punctuated by red accents. Hardwood
floors (even in the fitness center) and the pops of red in the walls, carpets, and lights make the hotel feel simultaneously homey and stylish. Simple, clean-lined furnishings like white couches and chairs decorate the common areas. SoMa,
the on-site restaurant, has a wall of windows that provides natural light. The several meeting rooms are decorated in a similar style, with red tablecloths and white chairs identical to those in the restaurant. A bar/lounge
area off the lobby has no-frills blonde-wood tables with colorful armchairs/couches, and free
newspapers are can be found in the lobby. Large
photographs of historic architecture hang on many walls. Despite its central location, the hotel is quiet and serene, with a friendly atmosphere.
Location
On bustling, shop-lined Calle de Goya in Madrid's busy Salamanca neighborhood
The Vincci Soma is located on bustling Calle de Goya in the lively Salamanca neighborhood. The street is lined with shops and restaurants that are perfect for tourists or business
travelers, and the surrounding area is pleasant to explore on foot. A five-minute walk gets you to El Corte Inglés, H&M, Mango,
Casa del Libro, and several metro stations; central Madrid is a 10-minute car
ride or 20-minute metro ride away. Also within walking distance are Puerta de Alcala
and Sports Palace Madrid. The hotel offers parking for a fee.
Rooms
All have hardwood floors and stocked minibars, though some are quite small, and others have balconies and kitchens.
The Vincci Soma offers a range of room types, running the gamut from 140-square-foot single rooms to 540-square-foot apartments.
Apartments include full kitchens and double beds in addition to lounge areas and sofa beds, while single rooms have small bathrooms and twin beds. Some rooms -- even mid-range categories -- also have large, furnished terraces with views of the city. Additionally, some rooms have separate tubs and walk-in showers while others only have a small shower. The modern, minimalist style of the rooms, though, is the same no matter the size. Neutral artwork hangs over the beds while vibrantly colored linens provide some color in the white-walled rooms. All rooms have hardwood floors and seating areas with gray armchairs, and are soundproofed. Minibars are stocked with snacks and drinks, and there are flat-screen TVs and free newspapers. Bathrooms are perfectly fine with blue and tan tile, large square sinks, and, in most, combination shower/tubs. Higher-tier rooms have bathrobes and slippers; toiletries are either Agua de Loewe or signature Vincci.
Features
Fitness center with sauna, restaurant with popular breakfast, free Wi-Fi
The hotel's restaurant, SoMa, serves contemporary Mediterranean dishes for lunch and dinner in a chic, modern atmosphere; an extensive and highly rated breakfast is served as well, but isn't included in most rates. There's also a bar/lounge area off the lobby that's a popular hangout spot. The large fitness center doesn’t have any
windows and is a bit dark, but has a good amount of equipment as well as a decently
sized sauna. Concierge and room services -- as well as a personal shopper -- are available, but room service has limited hours. There is on-site parking, but only for a rather steep daily fee. There is free Wi-Fi throughout, and the hotel has both a small business center and several meeting/event spaces.
