Overall bland and generic decor
The Sercotel Suites Viena has modern suite-style rooms and sits in a quiet area, but it's close to the city center and within walking distance of most attractions. The rooms are fairly spacious, save for their cramped bathrooms, and come with kitchenettes, though utensils have to be specially requested. It’s a good choice for tourists who don’t need to be in the middle of the action, but still want to walk to the city center, and are also looking for room to spread out.
Scene
Sleek, modern, and minimalist decor
The atmosphere is fairly corporate, but the look of the Sercotel Suites Viena is pleasant overall. The soaring lobby is filled with light from floor-to-ceiling windows and a funky piece of artwork made of metal cutouts hangs over the front desk. Off the lobby is a lounge area with a flat-screen TV, a self-service coffee machine, and black reflective tables surrounded by cream-colored fabric chairs. Overall, the property is sleek and sophisticated, yet low-key.
Location
In a quiet area, walkable to most sites
The hotel is in a quiet residential neighborhood, two blocks from Parque del Oeste, where there’s a lovely view of the Madrid sunsets. It’s also close to the commercial area of Calle Princesa and there is a supermarket nearby. It’s a 5- to 10-minute walk to the Plaza de Espana, a 12-minute walk to the Royal Palace of Madrid, 15 minutes on foot to the Teatro Real, and about 20 minutes to the Plaza Mayor. The Adolfo Suarez airport is about 20 minutes away by car or an hour via public transport.
Rooms
Large, chic suites with small bathrooms
The Sercotel Suites Viena has 57 air-conditioned, spacious suites, with minimalist modern decor. The spaces have laminate floors and interiors rely heavily on blacks, whites, and grays. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, hairdryers, and free Wi-Fi. They also have sitting areas and dining tables as well as large kitchenettes, though utensils must be requested at the front desk. The Junior Suite has a roomy outdoor terrace with a nice view of the surrounding neighborhood. Bathrooms are narrow, with toilets sitting right next to sinks and small shower/tub combos. Some past guests have complained about exterior noise from nearby bars.
