Pros
- Convenient location within walking distance of numerous sights
- Even standard rooms are spacious with a sleek design and large bathrooms
- Rooms have iPod docks and flat-screen TVs
- Chic tapas bar with outdoor seating and a restaurant with an extensive breakfast buffet
- Well-equipped business center with coffee and tea, a computer and printer, and numerous magazines and work spaces
- Small fitness center with a massage room attached
- Free Wi-Fi
Bottom Line
Though the 85-room NH Palacio is housed in an 18-century building, it has a hip, modern vibe throughout. It is arguably the chicest hotel in the NH brand, with gorgeous rooms, a funky tapas bar, and on-site amenities such as a well-equipped business center and a small fitness center. Even standard rooms are large and feature up-to-date amenities such as flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and free Wi-Fi. The design is modern with simple lines, beige furniture, pops of color, and hardwood floors. Though the hotel does not have a full spa (few hotels in Madrid do), it does offer a tranquil spot for massages. The convenient location -- within walking distance of the Atocha train station and numerous sights -- is also a draw.

Location
In the happening Huertas neighborhood, near Plaza Santa Ana and within walking distance of Puerta de Sol and Plaza Mayor
The NH Palacio is located in the Huertas district. The hotel is very close to the action without being right on top of it, so there is less street noise at night. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants, and shops. This area is considered by many to be the best nightlife and culinary scene in the city. It's also close to Puerta de Atocha train station, which serves the high speed trains.
The capital of Spain is a vibrant, multicultural city located right in the center of the country. The Cuatro Torres business area's additions to the city skyline (four sleek towers, including a hotel and corporate offices) give an idea of what Madrid is rapidly becoming: a sophisticated, cosmopolitan city -- albeit one that preserves its century-old traditions.
