Theatric elements spill over from the theater next door into the 116-room hotel decorated with vintage stage photos throughout, in-room red velvet curtains, and a dramatic marble, spiral staircase. The upscale property has a great location in the city center of Madrid near a variety of restaurants, cinemas and shops and is within walking distance to popular destinations including Plaza de España, Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace. The hotel's nearby sister property, the Vincci Capitol Hotel, has similar rates and is also worth considering.
Scene
Upscale, modern hotel with stunning terrace views
After viewing its classic architecture from the busy street outside, guests will be surprised to walk into the modern lobby of the Vincci Via 66 with its smooth grey couches and black, fabric-covered walls. A gorgeous marble staircase spirals up the chic interior levels of the hotel and black and white theatric photos pop up everywhere from the hallways to inside the rooms. The photos are even on the walls of the retro-inspired breakfast room with its red vinyl seating and diner-like tables. The terrace offers guests spectacular city views, and the lounge gives guests an added posh spot to enjoy a drink.
Location
On bustling street in Madrid’s city center
Located on the busy Gran Via, the hotel is in the same structure as the performing arts theater Teatro Compac. Nearby restaurant options include fast food, fine dining and everything in between. There is plenty to do in the area with all its shops and cinemas. Tourist destinations are within walking distance; Plaza de España is a five-minute walk away, and Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace are within a 12-minute walk. The Santo Domingo subway station is a two-minute walk away making other parts of the city easily accessible.
Rooms
Stylish, theatrical rooms with small TVs
Rooms are stylish with modern deco black and white patterned wallpaper accents, silver and gold furnishings, and red velvet curtains. With all the homages to actors and actresses, guests may find it ironic that the TVs are so small. The free Wi-Fi can also be slow (though it's possible to pay for a faster connection). There is a minibar in the room that can be included in the price depending on the package booked. Of the 116 rooms, five have private terraces with sweeping city views.
