The 115-room Hotel Villa Real boasts a great, central location just a few blocks from Sol and many major attractions. The hotel is a solid option for tourists -- and particularly families. Not only does it have hip restaurant that provides a kids menu, it also offer rooms with layouts convenient for families, and has numerous connecting rooms. The rooms, however, aren't as impressive as one may expect from a luxury hotel. They have eclectic style that blends modern and antique pieces, but most have two beds pushed together with thin comforters rather than duvets, and the furniture shows wear. Rooms do have flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi access (the first hour is free). Hotel Villa Real also has a small on-site fitness center and business center, but those looking for a few more amenities (such as a pool and more dining options) may consider the nearby sister hotel, Hotel Urban.
Location
Just a few blocks from Sol, in the heart of Madrid
Hotel Villa Real has an ideal location a few blocks from Puerta del Sol and Huertas (a major nightlife hotspot), and near many attractions. A bus terminal, where many bus lines start and end, is nearby, but some may never need to use it: The location is very convenient for those who want to explore the city on foot. Many must-see attractions such as Plaza Mayor, the Royal Palace, Cibeles, and Gran Via are all within an easy walking distance.Great shopping around Sol and Gran Via are a stroll away, as is La Latina, a tapas and al fresco dining and drinking hotspot (cross beautiful Plaza Mayor to get there). The Austrias area, with 17th-century architecture and cobblestone streets is just a few blocks down, past Puerta del Sol.Sol is the heart of Madrid, both geographically speaking and in a figurative sense. "Kilometer Zero" (where all roads in Spain are said to start), shopping, dining, nightlife, and major tourist attractions are all here. This means many tourists in Madrid never leave the neighborhood. For those who prefer taking public transportation, Sol is one of the major transportation hubs in Madrid, with trains, buses, and several subway lines converging on the same spot.- 20-minute drive to Madrid-Barajas Airport
