Bottom Line

This 43-room upscale boutique offers a stylish stay in residential Chamberí neighborhood. Rooms feature minimalist design, LCD TVs, iPod docks, and spacious bathrooms with rain showers and heated towel racks. The hotel is light on features, as there is only a solid restaurant, a meeting room, and breakfast buffet every morning. But the metro is right outside the front door, and there are tons of restaurants, bars and shops within a few blocks. Freebies such as Wi-Fi and non-alcoholic minibar items don’t hurt either.

Scene

A stylish boutique housed in a beautifully renovated early 20th-century building

First opened in 2013, Innside Madrid Luchana is housed in an early 20th-century building with a lovely white façade and traditional glass-enclosed balconies. It was once known as the Luchana Palace for its majestic tower -- at the top of which is now the largest, most high-end room in the property. Tasteful renovations brought modern, minimalist interiors to the building -- but the gorgeous exterior remained and this continues to be a neighborhood landmark. The lobby is bright and streamlined, with only a couple of couches and small coffee tables, a black and white front desk, and a short marble staircase with a wrought-iron handrail. This minimalist style extends to the rooms, which have an uncluttered yet upscale feel to them.

Location

Easy access to major attractions, nightlife, and shopping

The hotel is located in Chamberí, a pleasant, quiet neighborhood just north of some of the best nightlife areas in Madrid. There are few major attractions within easy walking distance, but Innside Madrid Luchana is right next to Bilbao Metro stop, which allows for easy access to most main sights in Madrid, including Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, El Prado Museum, the Royal Palace, and the Retiro Park. A short, easy stroll will get guests to some of the best shopping areas -- such as hip Fuencarral, and upscale Serrano -- and to great dining in Chueca, Salamanca, and La Latina neighborhoods. The airport can be reached by Metro in an hour, or by car in 20 minutes. Both Chamartín and Atocha train stations are less than a half-hour metro ride away.

Rooms

Stylish, bright, and well-equipped

Innside Madrid Luchana offers 43 spacious rooms, all featuring stylish contemporary decor, large windows, and great amenities, such as LCD TVs, iPod docks, free Wi-Fi, and free non-alcoholic minibar items. Most rooms have queen beds, but a few feature a king bed or two twins. Decor includes cream-colored laminate floors, gray ottomans, and dark headboards and closets. Bathrooms are particularly nice, with brown walls and floors, wonderful rain showerheads, and heated towel racks. A few rooms feature balconies, and the Tower Suite has a furnished terrace. Cots and room service are both available. Rooms lack coffeemakers.

Features

A solid regional restaurant, a meeting room, and breakfast buffet -- but the gym is a short walk away

Dado is a popular pick among businessmen and women for lunch, and among locals for dinner and drinks. It serves a solid regional menu with a twist in a bright, contemporary space overlooking the street. Gluten-free items are available at the restaurant, when ordering from the room service menu, and at the breakfast buffet. The hotel offers access to a fitness center -- but it is at sister property Innside Madrid Genova, located a few blocks away. Transportation to the airport and free Wi-Fi are both available. Club 22, the hotel’s rooftop terrace, offers cocktails with a view and serves as an event space. There is also an executive boardroom for up to 10 guests, and a small coffee break area.
