Bottom Line

The Hotel Nuevo
Boston is an upscale, 163-room property located close to Madrid airport just
off the road leading into the capital. Catering almost exclusively to business
guests and overnight stop-overs, the hotel has the transient feel of an airport
hotel but with a bit more charm than most. Rooms are fresh and modern with
marble bathrooms and a choice of pillows. While there are a few similar hotels
in the area -- such as the Maydrit Hotel and Axor Barajas Hotel -- rates
are more than competitive and the outdoor swimming pool is a real bonus in the summer.

Scene

Modern airport hotel with lofty central atrium and transient vibe

Despite its boxy
and brooding, ultra-modern facade, stepping into the Hotel Nuevo Boston guests
are met with a welcoming lobby area with pleasant, colorful decor and plenty of
natural light. The hotel is built around an airy and lofty central atrium that
rises up through the building's four floors and is overlooked by glass-paneled
internal balconies and bathed in sunlight from the large skylight in the roof. A forest
motif of huge hanging leaves and forests etched into polished stone as well as
pair of palm trees softens some of the hotel's cool, contemporary ambience,
while at the rear a large lawned garden provides a peaceful outdoor space to
unwind. Its proximity to the airport means clientele is largely transient
business and airline staff, as well as leisure travelers with an early morning
flight and those attending an event at the adjoining conference center.

Location

Next to the airport in the business district of Las Mercedes on the outskirts of Madrid

The Hotel Nuevo Boston is
located in the industrial and business district of Las Mercedes on the
outskirts of Madrid and just off the A-2 highway that connects the capital with
the airport. The Madrid-Barajas Airport is a five-minute drive from the hotel,
the IFEMA exhibition center is a 10-minute drive, and the center of the Spanish capital is about 20 minutes away. The hotel provides free shuttle services to all three
destinations, around the clock to the airport, weekends and holidays into
Madrid, and on fair days to IFEMA. Its location means there's very little in
the way of restaurants or shops in the surrounding area, and almost nothing
that's walkable.

Rooms

Fresh, contemporary decor with free Wi-Fi and marble bathrooms

The hotel's 163
rooms are decorated in a fresh, contemporary style with simple modern
furnishings and floral and leaf patterned fabrics. Free Wi-Fi comes standard
as do minibars and flat-screen TVs with satellite channels. All rooms are air-conditioned with large windows and a choice of pillows, while bathrooms are
finished in marble and provide hairdryers and generic toiletries. Superior Rooms and Junior Suites are more spacious and include coffee/tea machines, bathrobes,
and slippers. While generally well soundproofed, rooms close to the restaurant
can get some kitchen noises.

Features

Free shuttle services and outdoor swimming pool

A full buffet
breakfast is served under palm trees in the hotel's bright and modern
restaurant -- though not included in standard room rates. An early-bird
breakfast is also available from reception, while the restaurant has an a la
carte menu and a buffet dinner service. The hotel provides a shuttle service to
the airport, exhibition centers, and even into Madrid (at weekends and
holidays) though booking is required as the bus can fill up fast. An outdoor
swimming pool is open during the warmer months and lined with sun loungers, while
a small fitness room is also open to guests.
