Four Views Oasis

Much of the action at Four Views Oasis takes place outside on the resort's manicured grounds, where a ton of activities suit travelers of all ages. The beachfront promenade that runs along the picturesque, rocky coastline is ideal for romantic strolls, and the curvaceous, heated outdoor saltwater pool is a relaxing spot to take in ocean views. Kids won't lack for things to do, with a playground and a kids' club to keep them busy, and there's a putting green for anyone looking to work on their stroke. Day trips to Funchal is another popular activity. Guests tend to be mature couples or families -- it's less appealing to a younger party set -- and those seeking a stay that's removed from the action in Funchal. 

The hotel is remotely located, set on the beachfront in the town of Caniço. A rocky shoreline sits below the resort, and there's a promenade that connects to Reis Magos Beach -- a three-minute walk away. There’s not a lot to do in Canico, though there are a few restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Most guests take day trips to Funchal, which is just under a 20-minute drive away (the hotel offers a free shuttle bus too, on limited days). It's also ideally situated between Madeira's two golf courses, roughly a 15-minute drive to Palheiro Golf, and about 20 minutes in the opposite direction to Santos da Serra Golf. Madeira Airport is an 11-minute drive away.

Guest rooms at Four Views Oasis are bright, but decor is a bit bland and dated, with plain walls, basic wooden furniture, and big, colorful floral headboards tucked between bedside tables with reading lamps. All feature furnished balconies or patios, most facing the ocean (with partial or full ocean views), though some look out to gardens. Standard amenities include wall-mounted 32-inch flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, electric kettles, small desks, seating areas with armchairs, and free Wi-Fi -- but twin beds are the only option, and there's a fee to use safes. The bathrooms have bright orange tiles, bidets, and large walk-in showers. Upgraded Superior Rooms add couches to seating areas and shower/tub combos to bathrooms. Studios and Suites gain kitchenettes, with glass stovetops and microwaves. 

This hotel is packed with extensive amenities for activities, wellness, and dining. Guests have direct access to the rocky shoreline outside the hotel, and to a promenade that leads to a nearby pebble beach. The property's heated outdoor saltwater pool has rows of loungers and umbrellas around the sundeck, and there's a hot tub that's sheltered from the sun in an alcove.

On-site dining options are extensive. Atalaia Bistro serves international cuisine, and Acquamarina is buffet restaurant -- where breakfast is served for a fee -- that has themed nights. Calhaus Trattoria offers snacks and light meals with a bar and poolside terrace, and there's a lobby cocktail bar with regular live music.

Wellness features include a full-service spa with several treatment rooms, plus a sauna and Turkish bath. An attached indoor pool can be accessed for a fee. The fitness center is small, with just a few cardio machines and a weight trainer, but a tropical wall mural and natural light make the space bright and colorful. Kid-friendly amenities include an outdoor playground, a kids' club, and a kiddy pool. 

Other amenities include a hair salon, a minimart and gift shop, a business center and library lounge, and meeting space for up to 270 people. The grounds also house a putting green and an organic garden that supplies fresh ingredients to the hotel's restaurants. 

There's free shuttle service to Funchal several times a day -- booking a day in advance is required -- but there's no service on Sundays. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
