Bottom Line

A former Best Western, the 287-room Inn
Hotel Macau is a modern, mid-range property on Macau's Taipa Island. It's within a 10-minute walk of Taipa Village and Rua do Cunha, a popular touristy area of Macau where the city's Portuguese legacy is on display in its shops and restaurants. The hotel has a fresh feel throughout, including a colorful, funky restaurant, and rooms are minimalistic and sharp, with
muted color schemes and sleek bathrooms. Some guests find it takes a while to
hail a cab outside the hotel, but a free shuttle is provided to some key
destinations in Macau. Guests may want to compare rates with Ole Tam Sam Un Hotel, a mid-range property that's closer to the picturesque Rua de Felicidade in mainland Macau.

Scene

Modern hotel with simple style and quirky accents

What was once a Best Western has been given a facelift and the current incarnation of this hotel -- the Inn Hotel Macau -- is a fresh and modern property. Located in tourist-friendly Taipa, the hotel's faux-colonial facade sits on a landscaped roundabout, but once inside, decor is decidedly contemporary. Past the
marble columns and through glass doors, soaring bamboo stalks bring color to
the all-white lobby, and glowing moose heads add quirky appeal. The on-site dining room is a bright space with funky
white-and-orange chairs and fun wall decor including chopstick icons and plantation
shutters with rainbow-colored backdrops. A small lounge space with silver
couches and modern blue carpeting offers additional seating space. Overall this property has a chic, modern feel that attracts young travelers and couples.

Location

On a busy roundabout near Taipa Village and Rua do Cunha

This hotel is located
on a busy roundabout with several residential buildings on Taipa Island. This isn't mainland Macau, and those looking to be in the middle of the bustling city will want to look elsewhere. Still, the hotel does make a fine base to explore some of the more touristy aspects of the city. It’s around a 10-minute walk to Rua da Cunha, a narrow pedestrian street popular for food souvenirs including peanut candy, almond cakes, and coconut flakes. This is part of Taipa Village, which offers a glimpse of how things were in Portuguese Macau, and the Taipa Houses Museum is a five-minute walk from the hotel. The
Cotai Strip, an area made up of casinos and hotels, is within a three-minute
drive, for those seeking a slightly glitzier dose of excitement. The hotel provides a free shuttle to Grand
Emperor Hotel (10-minute drive), Macau Ferry Terminal (10-minute drive), and border
gate (15-minute drive). Macau International Airport will only take about five minutes to reach by car.

Rooms

Spacious rooms with minimalistic decor and mini-fridges

Rooms at this hotel are especially modern for the area with cool minimal decor,
sleek furnishings, and stylish gray walls. While there are a number of room categories and configurations to choose from, all have a similar look, with warm brown tones complementing the gray and white; some rooms have light wood laminate floors while others are done in striped carpeting. A few rooms have white shades
covering curved windows, giving them a futuristic pod-like vibe. Overall, the style is a fresh step up compared to many other mid-range hotels in Macau, which can often be outdated and fusty. All rooms have wall-mounted flat-screen TVs,
mini-fridges, electric kettles for coffee or tea, and free Wi-Fi. Small work desks provide enough space for a laptop. Safes, bottled water, and slippers are also standard in all rooms. All-white tile bathrooms are sleek and have contemporary fixtures plus either walk-in showers or shower/tub combos. Toiletry kits include toothbrushes, toothpaste, and combs.

Features

Free breakfast and on-site cafe plus free Wi-Fi

The Inn Hotel Macau provides a hot breakfast
included in room rates. The cafe on-site serves international and regional
cuisine, and there’s also a small lounge area near the minimal, attractive lobby. The hotel provides a free shuttle to select destinations (including the ferry terminal) and free parking is available. Wi-Fi is also provided for free throughout.
