Bottom Line

The Bellevue is a luxury business hotel located in a quiet area in Alabang, a shopping and business district home to some of the most opulent homes in Manila. Rooms are spacious and modern (if a tad plain) with LCD TVs, iPod docks, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. With two restaurants, two pools, a fitness center, a spa, and a rooftop bar with some of the best views around, this is a solid luxury option for those looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of central Manila -- but tourists looking to explore the main attractions may want to note that most are a long drive away.

Scene

A luxurious hotel with with kid- and business-friendly amenities

When The Bellevue Manila first opened in the
early 2000s it only had one building and just over 220 rooms. Tower Wing was
built shortly after, and added another 230 rooms, a second swimming pool, and a
fine dining restaurant. Decor is stylish and contemporary in both buildings,
but Tower Wing feels a little newer and sleeker. The main lobby is attractive,
with gleaming light-colored floors, a few dark accent walls, and a stylish mix
of contemporary black and gray furniture. In the back of the lobby is a striking
spiral staircase leading up to the all-day buffet, which has a similar color
palette and a huge crystal chandelier. Rooms, however, have a more muted style
in earth tones, and feature simpler contemporary furnishings. The hotel is luxurious overall, but maybe not quite as much so as other comparable hotels in
central Manila. Then again, it generally has more affordable rates than most
luxury properties in Makati.

Location

In Alabang, an upscale residential area a 35-minute drive from central Manila

The hotel is located in northern Alabang, a serene residential and commercial district in Muntinlupa, the southernmost city in Metro Manila. The neighborhood is increasingly popular among well-heeled Manila residents for its opulent houses and laid-back vibe, and is home to a wide array of shopping malls, several of which are within walking distance of The Bellevue Manila. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, as well as corporate buildings -- but little else. The historic part of Manila is a 40-minute drive away, and the financial area of Makati can be reached in 30 minutes in normal driving conditions. The airport is easily accessible via the Skyway, but there’s usually heavy traffic, so delays are to be expected.

Rooms

Spacious and upscale, with solid amenities and contemporary decor

The hotel features 456 rooms, all offering great amenities such as LCD TVs, free Wi-Fi, minibars, and iPod docks. Decor is contemporary and stylish, although perhaps not as unique as in other luxury properties in central Manila. Contemporary dark wood furniture, plush carpeting, and colorful abstract artwork on walls make for fairly elegant spaces -- but decor mostly in muted earth tones and lacking in original details makes rooms feel a little plain. Some rooms have accent walls, which add some style, and suites have spacious living areas with a few pops of color. Bathrooms are clean and luxurious, with separate walk-in showers and tubs in all units. All rooms have large windows, and most offer expansive views of the surrounding area.

Features

Two restaurants, a rooftop bar with expansive views, a fitness center, a spa, and two pools

Phoenix Court is the hotel’s fine dining restaurant. It serves Chinese cuisine in a colorful space with large windows, and bright orange and red decor. Café d’Asie is a more casual spot, serving an all-day buffet on the Main Wing's mezzanine level. The fitness center is spacious and bright, with cardio and strength-training machines, and free weights. The hotel features two pools, one in each building. The one located in the Tower Wing is a little larger, has better views, and features more stylish decor, but both have kiddy areas and bars. Vue Bar is located on the 22nd floor of Tower Wing, which allows for panoramic views of Alabang and beyond. Azure Spa is elegant and relaxing, with a hydrotherapy area and several upscale treatment rooms. Those planning an event can choose from several meeting rooms with audiovisual equipment and a variety of business services. Freebies such as Wi-Fi, parking, breakfast buffet, and shuttle service to nearby malls are all great perks.
