Le Sen Boutique is a small hotel set just slightly outside the town center of Luang Prabang. There are only 19 rooms here, and 16 of them are Deluxe. All are set around a swimming pool, and they have modern amenities like 32 inch flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, free Wi-Fi, minibars and safes, and rain showers in the bathrooms. The hotel has a nice pool as its centerpiece, and also has a fitness center, which is quite rare for Luang Prabang. The Le Sen restaurant serves up excellent free buffet breakfasts for guests, and lunch and dinner offerings as well, and the resort provides bicycles for free as well as a free shuttle service into town which leaves every half hour. While it is a bit too far to walk to the historic temples and heritage zone, Le Sen is still a great place to stay, as the rooms are good value for the price compared to other spots like Bel-Air Boutique.
Scene
Small and charming boutique hotel, where Mekong River photos and plush armchairs fill the lobby
The Le Sen Boutique Hotel is not boutique in name only. Guests arriving to the lobby are treated to nice photos of river life in Luang Prabang, plush armchairs and sofas to relax on, carved wooden masks, and a door framed view of the pool and gardens beyond. It is a small property, with only the lobby, pool, and restaurant being the public spaces (with a gym tucked away behind them). The restaurant area has bright yellow umbrellas and outdoor tables on a deck to enjoy, but most guests here spend their days visiting the old town of Luang Prabang, or else enjoying their terraces looking out at the pool. It's a small and charming boutique spot in which to escape from the tourist crowds.
Location
Just out of the town center, a 10-minute bicycle ride to the historic district
Le Sen Boutique Hotel is set slightly out of the town center in Luang Prabang. It's about a 20-minute drive from the airport. While it is a good 25-minute walk to the heritage area and temple district, free bicycles from the hotel make it a 10-minute ride. The hotel is located on a side road that does get a fair amount of traffic by day, but the resort is set back off the road so there isn't any noise. While there are not as many tourist oriented restaurants or shops here as elsewhere, there are plenty of local spots nearby, and overall the location won't cause any inconvenience.
Rooms
Rooms have 32-inch flat-screen TVs with satellite channels and large rainfall showers.
There are only 19 rooms at Le Sen Boutique Hotel, 16 of which are of the standard Deluxe room category, plus two suites and one villa. Rooms here are on the small side, but bright and modern, featuring large beds, mini-fridges, safe deposit boxes, 32-inch flat-screen televisions with satellite channels, work space, electric mosquito coils, electric hot water kettles for coffee and tea, and a set of bathrobes and slippers. Bathrooms have large rain showers, and all rooms come with free Wi-Fi and breakfast. The rooms have small terraces to sit on outside, which are clustered around a courtyard with a swimming pool in the middle. The suites and villas double in size, and the villa includes a private garden.
Features
A swimming pool, one of Luang Prabang's only fitness centers, and free buffet breakfast restaurant all on-site.
Le Sen Boutique Hotel is quite small, but it has a large number of features not commonly found in the small hotels of Luang Prabang. It has one of the only fitness centers in a hotel in Luang Prabang, and a fairly large one at that, with cardio machines, weights, and weight machines as well. The swimming pool is long enough to do a few laps and is the centerpiece of the hotel, surrounded by rooms in the courtyard. The hotel also has the Le Sen restaurant, where they serve free buffet breakfasts with an excellent selection of meats, cheese, bread, and other items. The restaurant also serves Lao and international cuisine for lunch and dinner. Finally, the resort makes up for its slightly out of the old town location by providing free bicycles for guests to use, along with a free shuttle service to town every 30 minutes throughout the day.
