The four-pearl Louisville Marriott Downtown is a busy yet
well-maintained conference hotel connected to the Kentucky
International Conference Center in downtown Louisville. Although not luxurious, its 617 rooms are clean, comfortable, generally
spacious, and tastefully decorated, with flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and
mini-fridges. An indoor pool, a whirlpool, and three dining options are attractive on-site amenities. But on-site parking is expensive, and Wi-Fi is only free in public areas, not in rooms. Rates can be expensive on certain
dates, but it’s competitive with other upscale business hotels downtown, such as the adjacent Hyatt Regency Louisville, which offers a nearby alternative.
Scene
Large downtown convention hotel buzzing with activity
Given its 617 rooms, huge amount of meeting space, and direct sky bridge to the city’s convention center, it’s no surprise that this Marriott is buzzing with activity. The expansive lobby is classy and contemporary. A long wall of reception desks reflects how this hotel is geared for accommodating large groups. While primarily a business hotel, any travelers seeking comfortable digs in downtown Louisville will be content here.
Location
Downtown, connected to the Kentucky International Conference Center via a skywalk
The Marriott is located in the heart of
Louisville’s downtown business district. It’s directly connected to the Kentucky
International Conference Center via a skywalk (a three-minute walk) and
there are plenty of restaurants within a few minutes' walk. The Fourth Street Live entertainment district, with numerous nightclubs,
restaurants, and shops, is only a three-minute walk away. The KFC Yum Center sports
arena is a seven-minute walk and the Muhammed Ali Center is a 12-minute walk.
The Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory is a 14-minute walk (five minutes by car),
and the Louisville Slugger Field, where the Louisville Bats play, is 12 minutes away on foot. The Kentucky Exposition Center and
Fairgrounds is about a 10- to 15-minute drive, as is Louisville International
Airport and Churchill Downs. The University of Louisville campus is approximately
a 10-minute drive.
Rooms
Spacious, clean, and comfortable rooms -- but Wi-Fi is extra
Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. Decor is consistent throughout the rooms and most suites. Amenities include mini-fridges, coffeemakers, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, and free daily newspapers delivered on request. While free in all public spaces, Wi-Fi incurs a fee in rooms -- two different speeds/price packages are available. The bathrooms have white tile framing standard white shower/tub combos with curtains, tile floors, and generously sized, granite vanities with wood-framed wall mirrors. Standard Rooms come with one king bed or two doubles, as do the Business and Concierge Level Rooms. The 25 suites offer more space to add extras such as kitchenettes with wet bars, dining/boardroom tables for six, and sitting areas with sofas. Business Rooms and Suites receive nightly turndown service, and Concierge Level guests also get access to their floor's concierge lounge, where there's a free continental breakfast, afternoon snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. The concierge lounges are closed on weekends, however. The open-plan Business Suites have all of these features except for kitchenettes, while other suites like the Marriott and Presidential Suites have separate living/bed areas. The Presidential Suite also has one bathroom and one half-bath and hardwood floors.
