The upscale Kimpton La Peer Hotel (opened in 2018) was designed to appeal to the fashionistas and designers who hang around the Design District neighborhood. The immediate West Hollywood location holds the Pacific Design Center and several hip bars and restaurants. The 105 rooms and suites subdued and stylish with gray and beige patterned tiles, string art wall designs, and sculptures. Public spaces focus on art and cozy spaces for commingling and working indoors in the lobby or outside on the covered patio. There's also a small pool, full bar, modern fitness center, and a popular Italian trattoria. Kimpton's signatures are here, too: pets allowed for free, free wine hours, and bikes to borrow. For something just as trendy, but with apartment-style rooms, check rates at Montrose West Hollywood.
Scene
High design and local art scene from a hip hotel chain
Given the surrounding neighborhood's emphasis on fashion and style, it's no surprise that Kimpton tapped the Icelandic-born, Los Angeles-based cutting edge designer Gulla Jonsdottir to design and curate the hotel's artsy interiors. The memorably striking entrance features geometric blue tiles and a wrought iron art instillation with white birds. Inside, the indoor lobby features earth tones, custom abstract art, and various furniture configurations designed for working and mingling. Adjacent to the indoor lobby is the popular Backyard Lounge. The hybrid space holds a full bar, swimming pool and sun deck, and furniture for enjoying drinks or working on a laptop. It's no surprise that most guests here are young and hip, with a mix of tourists who love the Kimpton brand and locals who love the design and location. The hotel opened in 2018.

Sunset Strip, known for its nightlife, is a five-minute drive or 15-minute walk. Universal Studios takes about 20 minutes to reach. It's about 30 minutes by car to Santa Monica Beach. Los Angeles International Airport is about a 45-minute drive.
Rooms
Soft, soothing, and filled with art
The 105 rooms and suites are soft and subdued, designed to feel like a retreat from the heat and crowds of Los Angeles. The color palette consists of gray and beige, while string art wall designs, small sculptures, and geometric gold light fixtures add a bit of artistic flair. Suites add white oak herringbone floors and Deluxe Kings have chaise lounges and a small seating area. All rooms come with a minibar, yoga mat, flat-screen TV, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi for loyalty members (which is free to join). Some rooms add architectural interest, like half windows leading into the bathroom or Juliet balconies. Bathrooms feature showers, toiletries, and hairdryers. Select rooms have deep soaking tubs and separate showers. With advance notice and an additional fee, the hotel can provide a bath butler service.
Features
Italian trattoria, outdoor pool, and Kimpton's signature freebies
The La Peer Hotel offers some excellent features. The Italian trattoria, Viale dei Romani, is helmed by popular Los Angeles chef, Casey Lane. The 140-seat restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Italian and Asian fusion menus focus on pasta, fish, rice, and steak. In addition, a full courtyard bar sits adjacent to the pool out in the Backyard Lounge. There's a modern fitness center, and guests can arrange for personal training or take a daily fitness class. Guests also get access to a free yoga app, to pair with the yoga mat in rooms. The daily guest amenity fee covers: $20 daily breakfast credit, upgraded Wi-Fi speeds, cold pressed juice in the lobby in the mornings, daily fitness class, printing and copying services, and Uber Select services up to one mile around the hotel. Since this is a Kimpton, there are free daily wine receptions and all pets are allowed to stay for free. Valet parking costs extra, as it does almost everywhere in West Hollywood.
