Bottom Line
Hampton Inn & Suites Los Angeles/Sherman Oaks is a clean value hotel offering more on-site features than some may expect from a two-and-a-half-pearl property. There's the icloud9-designed beds that offer a great night's sleep; free continental breakfast daily with a to-go option for those in a rush; free Wi-Fi and parking; and an indoor pool and a small fitness center. The neighborhood immediately surrounding the hotel doesn't have much to offer tourists, but Ventura Boulevard is just a few blocks away and has lots of shopping and restaurants. The hotel is just off the 405 and 101 making for east access to explore Los Angeles. Hampton Inn & Suites Los Angeles/Sherman Oaks caters primarily to families, but does offer a small business center and meeting room.

Scene
From the outside it like any other Hampton Inn, but inside much attention to detail makes the property stand out.
From the street there's not much to distinguish the Hampton Inn & Suites Los Angles/Sherman Oaks from any other budget hotel, but inside the attention to detail and meticulous cleanliness makes the hotel stand out in its class. Decor is cheerful and welcoming with contemporary art prints, and the hotel smells of cleaning products and steam cleaning (except in the morning when the smell of breakfast fills the air). The hotel feels open and spacious -- the reception areas are enormous and there is a living room set in each of these spaces as well as a table with chairs, for guests to congregate.
Location
Convenient location for guests visiting Sherman Oaks, Studio City, and Burbank area, but immediate neighborhood is a bit dodgy.
Hampton Inn and Suites Los Angeles / Sherman Oaks is on Sepulveda Boulevard, the main street in Sherman Oaks, and sits less than a block from the 405 and 101. Ventura Boulevard, busy with shops and restaurants, is just three blocks from the hotel and there's a bus station just a half-block from the hotel entrance. It's about a 15-minute drive to Universal Studios and the television and recording studios of Studio City and Burbank. The hotel has a convenient location for guests visiting Sherman Oaks, Studio City, and the Burbank area, but the immediate surroundings of the hotel are not inviting; there's a pawn shop across the street and a strip mall next door.
Rooms
Clean and spacious with all basic amenities like hair dryers, coffeemakers, and flat-screen TVs.
The beds may look lumpy, but travelers love the "icloud9" design that promises a great night's sleep. Rooms at the Hampton Inn & Suites Los Angeles/Sherman Oaks are meticulously clean and come in a variety of sizes, sleeping anywhere from two to six people. All come with hair dryers, coffeemakers and flat-screen TVs, and the suites come with full wet bars complete with mini-fridges and microwaves. Decor may be simple (picture neutral tones and wooden accents) but it's up-to-date, and all rooms are nice and spacious.
Features
A small fitness center, an indoor pool, and a free continental breakfast are some of travelers' favorite amenities.
The hotel is geared towards both business and family travelers and its amenities reflect that. There's an indoor pool with pool toys; a small fitness center equipped with weights, a treadmill, stationary bike and elliptical machine; and a small business center and a meeting room with projector and dry erase board. The continental breakfast, featuring omelets, waffles, bacon and more is a popular feature, as is the brown bag breakfast to-go option available at the front desk for those short on time. At night, the hotel hosts a popcorn party in the lobby with a real popcorn machine.
