Bottom Line
There are 80 rooms and suites in total at the Bermondsey Square Hotel, a boutique property in inner South London's Bermondsey area with a retro, Cool Britannia theme. Rooms have colorful pillows and throws, writing desks, mini-fridges, and luxurious bathrooms with rain showerheads and heated towel racks. There's a restaurant specializing in rotisserie chicken, an in-house tailor who can make bespoke suits and shirts, and special amenities for pets (including dog beds and bowls). The location is a bit awkward, as it's tucked away in a part of suburban South London that's a 15-minute walk from the nearest tube station. The upscale London Bridge Hotel is a more convenient alternative in the general area.

Cool Britannia theme popular with business travelers
The Bermondsey is in a modern, purpose-built aluminum and wood-slatted eight-story building. There is a fun, lighthearted Cool Britannia theme running throughout -- the hotel was originally meant to be styled after the 1960s British rock music scene, but feels much darker. The lobby has gray slate flooring, black leather seats, a gray-scale Union Jack wallhanging, and fire-engine-red accents that are repeated throughout the hotel. The public men's and women's restrooms are demarcated with cast bronze door plaques in the shape of briefs and bras, respectively. Hallways have large black-and-white photo prints of 1960s London. Although some tourists do stay here, it's particularly popular with business travelers.
Location
In the Bermondsey neighborhood, a 15-minute walk to the nearest tube station
The hotel is located in South London's Bermondsey neighborhood, on a small open square with a sparse collection of other shops and restaurants, including a Sainsbury's grocery store, a Del'Aziz restaurant, and a few residential flats. The square is on a busy main road that leads south from Tower Bridge. Although buses stop just by the hotel, the Bermondsey and Borough tube stations are each about 15 minutes away on foot. The Tate Modern and Borough Market are each a five-minute drive away.
Rooms
Rooms and suites with desks, colorful pillows and throws, and modern bathrooms
Rooms at the Bermondsey Square range from standard Superior Rooms, which make up the bulk of the units, to loft suites named after protagonists of songs from the 1960s. The best room in the house is the Eleanor suite (named after Ms. Rigby, sung about on the Beatles' Revolver album), which has a separate living room and Japanese bath. All rooms and suites have light-wood desks, white bedspreads topped with red crushed-velvet throws and brightly colored pillows, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and modern bathrooms with heated towel racks and large stall showers with rain showerheads.
Features
On-site restaurant, pet-friendly amenities, and in-house tailor
The on-site GB Grill & Bar is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; it serves cocktails and standard British gastropub food, and has a covered outdoor seating area that's heated on cool days. They also offer takeaway rotisserie chicken. An in-house tailor is available to make bespoke shirts and men's suits. Dogs are welcome, and the hotel provides dog beds, bowls, and treats. The hotel also offers event space for meetings and special occasions such as weddings and private parties.
