The Belgrave is a chic, mid-range boutique hotel that occupies four Georgian townhouses in a centrally located residential area. The Pimlico underground
station is a five-minute walk and it's only a few minutes more to the transportation hub at Victoria
Station for easy access throughout London. The 73 rooms are smallish but clean and contemporary, with lovely walk-in
rainfall showers, free Wi-Fi, and coffee/tea facilities. Amenities are limited,
but include free continental breakfast and a cozy lobby bar with a fireplace. Another possibility nearby is The Luna Simone Hotel, a less stylish, mid-range property with lower rates that offers a free English breakfast with
table service.
Scene
Quiet and classy townhouse hotel, with stylish furnishings
The handsome white columns framing the entrance to the
Georgian townhouses of The Belgrave offer a posh backdrop. Inside, the lovely lobby
that seamlessly mixes modern with traditional decor adds a contemporary twist. The polished black
and ruby floor tiles, crown molding, and posh armchairs upholstered in black
and silver patterns give the feel of a traditional parlor space. But, the black-trimmed, white oval reception desk with neon-fuchsia backlit glass block displaying the
hotel logo is decidedly modern. As for atmosphere, the lobby is quiet and comfortable, with a compact size that meets the needs of the property. It leads to the cozy bar area that has the same modern, black-and-white
face on the bar. But again, the rest of the small space has traditional flair, with
dark-gray patterned wallpaper and velvet damask armchairs facing a small
fireplace. Business travelers and tourists alike who prefer more stylish
accommodations will find this small, family-run hotel appealing.
Location
Residential area four minutes from the Pimlico underground station
The Belgrave is located on a
residential street in central London’s Pimlico area, about a four-minute walk
to the Pimlico underground station. Several restaurants and pubs are
only a few minutes away on foot as well. The transportation
hub of Victoria Station is in walking distance as is Westminster Cathedral. - Four-minute walk to Pimlico underground station
Rooms
Clean and modern with nice walk-in showers, but on the small side
Rooms are clean, modern, and tastefully decorated, with
a minimalist bent. Slight variations in the motif exist, but there are many
common elements such as plank-style hardwood floors or light-brown carpet, and walls and textiles in neutral tones accented with brighter colors such as turquoise or fuchsia. All have padded light-gray headboards and oak-hued wood nightstands and desks, with vinyl or leather office chairs. Framed photos of London decorate some walls. Bathrooms are equally modern and distinctive, with gray tile floors and walls, and spacious walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads and clear glass doors. White vessel sink sit atop wood-and-stainless-steel pedestals, with multicolor backsplash-style tile walls behind them. Some bathrooms have windows, but there's little shelf space. At about 130 square feet, the
Standard Rooms are small even by European standards, with just hangers and wall-mounted hooks serving as closets. The 172-square-foot
Executive and Signature Rooms offer nice touches like king-size beds, robes and slippers, and closets for storage. Their flat-screen TVs are also larger than those in Standard Rooms. Executive Rooms have mini-fridges while Signature Rooms add minibars with free items, iPod docks, free magazines, and city views. All rooms come with coffee/tea facilities. Other standard features include electronic safes, international power sockets, and free Wi-Fi. Rooms are generally quiet, and views from some upper floors are quite nice.
