St Paul’s Hotel

The St. Paul’s Hotel is a stylish boutique hotel set in a former school that was built in 1884. The red brick building is full of character and has plenty of history too. It is well-known for being the base from which Winston Churchill, Eisenhower, and Montgomery planned the D-Day Landings during World War II, back in 1944. In fact, one of the hotel’s meeting rooms is named after Churchill. The hotel has lovingly maintained the building’s original features and the property is packed with characterful details like stone archways, wrought iron banisters, ornate stained glass windows, and decorative brickwork. There is an elegant vibe here, seen everywhere from the multiple seating areas and lounges to the on-site restaurant, which has glittering chandeliers and windows looking onto green lawns. The hotel attracts a range of guests, from corporate travelers to concert-goers visiting the nearby Eventim Hammersmith Apollo.

The hotel is set on busy Hammersmith Road, with a small park behind the property. While it’s not right in the heart of London’s tourist area, there’s plenty going on in the local vicinity, and the surrounding streets are filled with a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and offices. It’s a five-minute walk to Hammersmith Tube station and Kensington Olympia Exhibition Centre, and both Barons Court and West Kensington stations are a 10-minute walk away. West End tourist hotspots like Piccadilly Circus, take around 20 to 30-minutes to reach by underground. The Eventim Hammersmith Apollo, where plenty of famous names play gigs, is nearby too -- just a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Heathrow Airport can take just over 20 minutes to reach by car depending on traffic, or it's 40 minutes away by tube. Gatwick Airport is an hour away by tube and train or taxi, though the latter also depends on traffic conditions.

Guest rooms at the St. Paul’s hotel are available in Classic, Junior, and Executive categories. Rooms are all spacious, plush, and traditionally stylish, with carpeted floors, velvet padded headboards and furniture, and dark hardwood pieces offsetting the rooms' soft tan and beige tones. Some original features from the building’s history, such as an open fireplace in the Executive Room, have been retained in certain rooms, while Expressionistic prints hang in frames on the walls. Every room has air-conditioning, a mini-fridge, tea- and coffee-making facilities, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, and a safe. Executive Rooms are the largest available, and have sharp burgundy walls and period details. En-suite bathrooms are decorated with marble tiles and feature rainfall showers and high-end toiletries. Bathrooms in Executive Rooms are larger, with a separate shower and bathtub, and done in striking white marble. Despite being on a busy road, the rooms are well soundproofed and most are protected from the traffic noise. 

St Paul’s Hotel has an excellent restaurant on-site. Named Melody, after a movie that was shot within the property in the early 1970s, the restaurant has a modern British menu and an extensive wine list. Meals are served in an elegant dining room with a huge chandelier, floor-to-ceiling windows, and parquet flooring. The restaurant also has an outdoor terrace. Guests can enjoy informal lunches and snacks in the lounge bar, where a range of hot and cold drinks are available too. Room service can be ordered, but breakfast is not included with room rates. The hotel is popular with business guests and has two meeting rooms and a conference room. The conference room can accommodate up to 60 people, and the restaurant can be hired privately too. There is also a business center with a computer station. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
