Bottom Line
Situated in northern London’s trendy Angel neighborhood, between Academy Islington and The Business Design Centre, the mid-range Premier Inn London Angel Islingtion offers clean rooms at an excellent value for both business travelers and tourists. Although uniform and somewhat bland in style, rooms are large and comfortable for London standards and the on-site restaurant and bar are notably good. The city’s main tourist attractions are between 15 to 35 minutes away on the Tube, but there are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Boxy exterior and business interiors
Six floors high, this Premier Inn is rectangular and boxy from the outside, with a modern, slightly Scandinavian aesthetic. Upon entering through the sliding glass doors, you'll immediately notice several signs advertising meal deals at the on-site restaurant and a couple of check-in kiosks, although there is also at least one person at the small reception desk. There is a small lounge area with high-backed, patterned chairs, as well as a couple of computers available for guest use. Thyme Restaurant and Bar has a warm, welcoming look with red and wallpapered accent walls, wood floors, and a variety of wooden tables and chairs, with plenty of light coming in from the ground floor windows overlooking the busy street.

In the heart of trendy Angel, next to the Business Design Centre and Academy Islington
On a quiet back road just off busy Upper Street in the hip Angel neighborhood, this hotel is ideally located next to the Business Design Center, a major conference/event space. Academy Islington is adjacent, and the hotel is within easy walking distance of a number of nice shops, restaurants, and bars; Angel is a lively neighborhood with lots to see and do within reasonable walking distance. The Emirates Stadium and the British Library are each about 30 minutes away on foot, in opposite directions. The nearest Tube station is Angel, a five-minute walk away. London Bridge is 15 minutes away on the Tube, St. Paul’s Cathedral 19 minutes, and Leicester Square 28 minutes. Most London attractions can be reached within 35 minutes on the Tube. Rooms
Large for London, with chain-standard decor, and immaculately clean
Those familiar with London hotels will be pleasantly surprised by how spacious the Premier Inn’s rooms are in comparison. They are, however, standard chain fare, and don’t have much in the way of character or decor. All rooms feature a soothing purple theme throughout the bed coverings, carpet, and curtains. Beds are notably comfortable, with a choice of firm or soft pillows, and the modern wooden headboard has lights attached on both sides of the bed. Each room has a wooden desk and lounge couch, as well as one or two floral paintings on the wall for minimal decoration. A wooden shelving unit serves as a wardrobe and entertainment center for the modern flat-screen TV and kettle with tea and instant coffee. Bathrooms are sterile-looking, with attached toilets and shower/tub combinations, but are immaculately clean.
Features
Free Wi-Fi, automated check-in, restaurant and bar
This Premier Inn offers free Wi-Fi in rooms and has a number of room packages that include breakfast and/or dinner deals. Thyme, the on-site restaurant and full bar, serves a breakfast buffet with hot food such as eggs and sausage (it even has a vegetarian variety), and sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads, and desserts for lunch and dinner. There are kiosks used for check-in, computers available for guest use, and concierge-oriented staff. There is no parking, but paid lots are a minute's drive away in the N1 Shopping Centre or on Upper Street.
