Scene

Modern and contemporary guest communal areas for business and leisure travelers

Although this is a chain hotel, the decor in communal guest areas has a contemporary boutique style with plenty of space for guest lounging in the hotel lobby, which resembles a nicely curated living room. There's a wooden dining table set with a bowl of candy, a mix of vintage-inspired chairs, and a leather Chesterfield sofa under an abstract painting. The Loft restaurant is warm and chic with quality wooden tables that match the tones of the hardwood floor, large cubic-style windows that let in a soft natural light, and three large glass chandeliers hanging overhead. Guests are composed of a mixture of business and leisure travelers looking for accommodation in the business hub of central London.

Location

A 13-minute walk from London Bridge tube station and nightlife along the River Thames

Located in the popular Bankside area of central London the Mercure London Bridge Hotel is within a 15-minute walk of St Paul's Cathedral, Borough Markets, and London Bridge Station. Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and the Tate Modern are both a six-minute walk from the hotel. For an alternate to breakfast in the hotels somewhat pricey Loft restaurant, The Table Cafe next door is a solid pick. For nightlife, London Bridge has a collection of traditional English pubs that run along the River Thames, a 13-minute walk from the hotel.

Rooms

A combination of out-of-date rooms and contemporary rooms with price tags to match

There is a mixture of 144 dated and modern refurbished rooms available at the Mercure London Bridge Hotel, which is in the process of updating their outdated rooms. Standard and Superior rooms maintain an older style with wooden headboards, dark olive-green carpets, and off-white walls. Bathrooms are equally basic with black tile flooring, glass shower doors, and old-fashioned wall-mounted hairdryers. Empty mini-fridges are available for storing cold items. Refurbished Privilege Rooms are in a better league with rich bed throws, blue upholstered desk chairs, and brown carpets with a blue design. Simple but pristine bathrooms have powerful showers. All rooms include free Wi-Fi, coffee- and tea- making facilities, satellite TV channels, safes, and ironing boards. There are double glazed windows for noise control, adjustable air-conditioning, and blackout curtains for jet lagged guests that want to sleep in. Most rooms overlook nearby office blocks. 24-hour room service is available.

Features

Small fitness center, Loft bar and Restaurant, and free Wi-Fi

There's a small 24-hour fitness facility with limited equipment. The hotel's Loft bar and restaurant serves contemporary cuisine from morning till night. Breakfast is available for a fee, which is cheaper if booked in advance, and includes a selection of hot and cold buffet items as well as made-to-order food from the kitchen.
