Pros
- Cool design hotel with opulent, daring decor
- Prime location on The Strand, London's theater district
- Chic, minimal rooms with metallic accents and luxe bathrooms
- Top-class restaurants, lounges, and a rooftop bar
- Varied music, lighting, and aromas in public spaces by an "Aura Team"
- Tech-friendly rooms with free Wi-Fi
- Avant-garde architecture by world-famous architect Norman Foster
- Excellent London skyline views from rooms and rooftop
Cons
- Hallways can be slightly dark in places
- Radio rooftop bar seems quite guest-selective
- Some complaints about condescending staff
Bottom Line
The 157-room ME London is a design hotel in a prime location right on The Strand. From the dark lobby to the chic, minimal rooms there is an artistic and exclusive atmosphere to the hotel. On-site restaurants, lounges, and bars -- including a trendy rooftop bar -- are destinations in their own right, attracting both locals and visitors. Tech-savvy rooms have cool and functional bedside lighting controls along with luxurious bathrooms, but some guests feel that the black hallways can be a little too dark and that this much style can come with a side of attitude.

An avant-garde design hotel
The ME London is designed to impress, from the black and white polished marble to the privately commissioned chandeliers and furniture, to the nine-story interior pyramid that makes up the hotel's atrium. Lighting, music, and mood of the hotel's public areas change throughout the day thanks to a dedicated team of "Aura specialists". The architecture of the building -- designed by Norman Foster himself -- is grand and daring, with expansive hallways and large but intimate public spaces. While the atmosphere is definitely trendy, some guests complain certain areas like black hallways are just too dark.
Location
Prime real estate in The Strand
Located directly on The Strand, ME London couldn't have a better location for the West End crowd. Formerly the Marconi Building (where the first overseas radio message was dispatched), the hotel is walking distance from Covent Garden, Leicester Square, and Piccadilly Circus, with excellent transportation via London Underground and close links to Heathrow Airport and several major train stations such as St. Pancras, Euston, and Waterloo.
Rooms
Lots of fun extras, great views, and tech-friendly
Chic rooms at the ME London have been designed so that every room faces the street, offering wonderful views of The Strand and the London skyline. Fresh flowers are placed in rooms daily by the "Aura Team" and quotes (by fashionable personalities such as Coco Chanel) are written on the bathroom mirror. Rooms have free Apivita organic toiletries, a big selection of drinks and snacks, and a "Love Kit" and "Hangover Kit" for every type of hotel situation. All lighting and temperature controls can be adjusted by a touch-screen interface next to the bed.
Features
Rooftop bar, restaurants, and lounges
ME London has two fine dining venues imported from New York City: STK and Cucina Aseliina. The rooftop bar, Radio, is an exclusive destination that is frequented by some of London's best and brightest (and therefore can be a bit difficult to access at times). Guests that find it difficult to access the rooftop bar will be comfortable in the ground floor bar, too. ME London also has seven meeting rooms with moveable walls (and therefore flexibility for different types of functions).
