Scene
Grand, elegant, and historic hotel near Hyde Park
Originally built in 1850 as three private houses, this six-story, mid-range hotel
attracts tourists from around the world, mainly drawn by the proximity to
London’s Hyde Park. The entrance to the hotel is a grand hallway with marble
floors, an elaborate gold and marble console table, large mirrors, and
a gold sconce hanging on the wall. A crystal chandelier lights the space up and
the ceiling is ornately painted. The hotel has
the feel of an elegant and traditionally English private home. There are comfortable couches in
soft oyster and champagne shdes, a coffee table offering up soft drinks and
colorful macarons, and an open fireplace. Behind this, there is a small wooden
reception desk topped with fresh flowers and fruit in glass bowls. The Rose Garden Restaurant and the hotel's bar both have a traditional vibe, with large landscape paintings and tall windows in the restaurant, and vibrant red walls and wood paneling in the cozy bar. Guests also like about the charming rose garden with tables and chairs. This property has lots of character throughout, though some decor can be a bit worn or fussy, and offers a good value for its location.

Rooms
Rooms vary in size and decor, including some spacious and grand Suites
Each of the 49 rooms at the London Elizabeth is individually
decorated and they vary widely in terms of space and decor. Some of
the less expensive, more basic rooms have signs of wear and tear and could use some updating, with generic light wood furniture and bland floral wall art. High category rooms have a more refined, elegant air, with period accents and features like stained glass doors, fireplaces, gilded mirrors, and massive windows with classic drapery. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minibars, electric kettles, and safes. Standard Rooms have
an overhead fan, though portable air-conditioning units can be rented, and all Deluxe
Rooms and Suites are fully air-conditioned. Many of the rooms have small
private, furnished balconies. Bathrooms vary in size and decor too, and while many are
spacious with shower/tub combos and large vanities, they are rather dated and some could use refurbishing. The grand Hyde Park
Suite is one of the hotel's largest units. It has an enormous
white stone fireplace next to the bed, and another fireplace in the
sitting area. The bookcases and desk are dark wood antiques, and the floor-to-ceiling windows give views over the famous park. It also has a private balcony,
ornate ceilings, and a large bathroom in gray and green marble with gold
fittings. It’s worth noting that due to the hotel’s central London location,
traffic noise can be heard in some of the rooms.
Features
Bar and restaurant, traditional afternoon tea, outdoor garden, and free Wi-Fi
The hotel has a restaurant and lounge bar on-site, which receive solid reviews from guests. The restaurant
serves British cuisine with some international influences and aims for a
rustic, home-cooked style. Dishes such as grilled salmon, sea bass, and steak are
joined on the menu by European favorites including paella and boeuf bourguignon.

outside on the Garden Terrace in warmer weather, but breakfast is not included with any booking. The bar serves a wide
selection of draught beers and spirits, including aged malt whiskies, and a range

also serves a traditional afternoon tea, which is popular with both local residents
and visitors to the hotel. There is a boardroom which can be used by business
guests, and can also be booked for private dinner parties. Outside space is a
rarity in central London, but the London Elizabeth has a rose garden and a herb

fee, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
