The three-and-a-half-pearl Lamington-Hammersmith Serviced Apartments are scattered along a picturesque tree-lined street, a seven-minute walk from Hammersmith Tube station. These are sleepy, residential properties that are removed from most of central London's action. They range from studios to two-bed-two-bathroom apartments. For the most part, interiors are calm and muted, with a pleasing color palette of duck egg blues and pale grassy greens. While there’s no real design flair, furnishings are unobtrusive and clean with some thoughtful decor in more modern units. All apartments include LCD TVs, iPhone dock, weekly cleaning services, and free Wi-Fi. The fully-equipped kitchens and modern, bright bathrooms feel contemporary and generous. These apartments won’t suit everybody and those who are happy to pay more for typical hotel services should try nearby St Paul's Hotel instead.
Scene
Clean, functional apartments, with some pleasant decor and a peaceful vibe
These apartments are incredibly private and discrete with a home-away-from-home atmosphere. There’s nothing to distinguish them from the other Victorian townhouses on this leafy street, which is part of the appeal. Inside, the feeling of calm coziness continues with some lovely paintings, soft furnishings, and potted plants. Don't expect any common areas, as this place is only for independent travelers. Lamington Serviced Apartments appeal to business guests with long stays in London, those with families, and special-occasion parties who want their own space and privacy. Staff are on hand at the nearby offices with welcome packs and local area information, which makes check-in a relaxed affair.
Location
Under a 10-minute walk to Hammersmith Tube station, on a quiet residential street
The location is picture-perfect, on a quiet, affluent street in Hammersmith, West London. It’s a short seven-minute walk to Hammersmith Tube station from many of the apartments, where guests can pick up the Piccadilly, District, Circle, and Hammersmith and City lines to further explore London. The immediate area doesn’t have much in the way of sightseeing or tourist hotspots, so it’s best suited to those looking to explore West London’s village-like corners. Just next door to the property's main office is a good local pub. For arts and culture, the Lyric Hammersmith is a hugely acclaimed theatre just a six-minute walk away. The location is charming, but can feel a little sleepy and far away from some of the bigger attractions, although beautiful Ravenscourt Park is a short four-minute drive away. Heathrow is the closest airport and is just a 25-minute drive away. It’s also possible to get the Piccadilly line from Hammersmith station to terminals 1, 2, and 3. This is likely to take about 45 minutes. Budget around 70 minutes to reach Gatwick Airport by public transit.
Rooms
From studios to two bedrooms, pared-back style plus LCD TVs, full kitchens, and spacious bathrooms
Soft neutrals and fuss-free design characterizes the units here, which range from studios to two-bedroom-two-bath configurations. For the most part, the look is all relaxing creams and natural woody tones, save the hit of red in some of the bedrooms. The result is a modern and cohesive look, which may not have ultra-luxury furnishings, but certainly feels slick enough. The finish varies throughout the apartments, with the most successful having dark wood floors and bright, white furniture, which feels high-end and tranquil. Some are a bit fresher than others, so check on the status of renovations when you make your booking. All include lovely homey touches like stylish lamps and pretty artwork. Kitchens are outfitted with every necessity for making a proper meal, including stoves, toasters, coffeemakers, and even dishwashers. Other standard features include washer/dryers, free Wi-Fi, LCD TVs, and iPod docks, but there is no air-conditioning. Bathrooms are generous and all apartments, bar the studios, have shower/tub combos. The office is flexible with accommodating different party sizes, so check ahead to discuss bed configurations. Weekly cleaning services are provided, though daily housekeeping will cost extra.
Features
Almost nothing on-site, though gym discounts are available
Features here are almost non-existent, as this hotel is best for guests looking to live like a local rather than stay at a proper hotel. Guests are eligible for discounted rates at the local PureGym during their stay, which is a nice bonus. Airport transfers are available as are private taxi collection and drop off services, though these must be booked in advance. Wi-Fi is free, and parking is only available on the street at an extra cost.
