Scene
Untypically trendy vibe in chain hotel with Camden-inspired design touches
What immediately strikes you before evening entering this Holiday Inn is its clear ambition to distance itself from the drab uniformity of a chain hotel. From the outside, the property is a conspicuous wedge of contemporary architecture, with colorful window frames and polished steel. Stepping inside, you're met with a funky and fresh lobby area, decked out with eclectic modern furnishings and Scandinavian-style touches. Efforts have been made to connect the interior design to the vibrant scene of its location, with Camden-inspired adornments dotted around its lounge areas. The cool, laid-back vibe attracts a mixture of hip younger tourists keen to stay in the heart of this happening neighborhood, as well as corporate guests who'd likely prefer to chill out in trendy surrounds between business appointments.
Location
Vibrant Camden location overlooking canal and a few stop from city center
The hotel is located directly on Camden Lock in North London, a five-minute walk from the Camden Town station of the London Underground, and a few stops from the city center. The property overlooks Regent's Canal and the famous Camden Lock Market, but is set on a side street that's relatively quiet for this part of town. It's also a 10-15 minute taxi ride to King's Cross transport hub, while Regent's Park is just a 10-minute walk away.
Rooms
Modern though uninspired rooms, some with canal views
The Camden Holiday Inn's room decor and vibe doesn't quite live up to the standard set in its public spaces, with standard chain furnishings and lackluster aesthetics. That said, all the rooms clean and modern with a choice of pillows and mini fridges. Bathrooms are fresh and contemporary and all include full-size tubs and power showers. For a fee you can upgrade to a room with views over the canal. In-room Wi-Fi costs extra, unless you are a rewards club member.
