This intimate upper-middle-range resort is set along the beach in a quiet area, about a 10-minute drive from the main strip of restaurants and bars in Senggigi. The 15 rooms are pristine and have outdoor showers, terraces, and flat-screen TVs, but the free Wi-Fi is often slow and decor is a bit plain. Although the beach is narrow and the sea isn't swimmable without beach shoes, the property’s sleek infinity pool overlooking the ocean is a favorite hang-out spot for most guests. The on-site restaurant is well-reviewed and offers a free quality a la carte breakfast, plus there's a comfy, casual seaside bar. A pleasant spa is a nice perk, but there's no gym. Travelers looking to be closer to the town center should consider Qunci Villas Hotel, though rates are a bit higher.
Scene
Peaceful beachside retreat that's popular with couples
Set amid tropical, manicured gardens with lots of palm trees, and along a narrow stretch of beach, The Chandi Boutique Resort & Spa offers a tranquil escape from the busier parts of the island. With only 15 villas, this charming property provides plenty of secluded spots for each guest to enjoy, even at full capacity. There's not a ton in the immediate vicinity, so it's best suited to those looking for a quiet escape. Unsurprisingly, most guests are couples looking for a romantic getaway, but some groups of friends and families can also be found here.
Location
On the beach, a 10-minute drive to Senggigi Center
This beachfront resort is set along a main road, a 10-minute drive to the main center of Senggigi, a lively area with restaurants and bars. Some dining options are within a 10-minute walk, but most guests opt to eat on-site or take taxis. It's 20 minutes by car to Mataram, the capital of Lombok. There are regular flights from Bali to Lombok International Airport, and the journey from the airport to the resort takes about an hour by car. Free parking is available.
Rooms
Spacious villas with lovely outdoor bathrooms, but some villas can experience street noise
The spacious stand-alone villas are contemporary but a bit plain, outfitted with beige tile floors and walls, dark wooden furnishings, neutral linens, and numerous windows that ensure ample natural light. Chic cut-out ceilings painted terra cotta break up the earth tones. The Ocean View Villas have small sitting areas, while the larger Garden View Villas offer separate living areas with sofas and tables. Sliding doors open onto wooden terraces complete with sofas, cushioned chairs, and small tables, either overlooking the garden or ocean. On the downside, some guests have commented that light sleepers should opt for the Ocean View Villas, as the Garden View Villas experience some noise from the adjacent street, despite having been soundproofed. All villas come with air-conditioning, fans, comfy beds, sofas, desks, LCD TVs with DVD players, safes, minibars, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and free Wi-Fi. In addition, the lovely outdoor bathrooms have rainfall showers complete with stone statues and toiletries.
Features
Beachfront infinity pool, restaurant serving free breakfast, and spa, but no gym
The resort’s appealing swimming pool offers a great alternative to the rocky ocean directly in front of the hotel, which is not swimmable without renting beach shoes from the resort. Also note that hawkers can be a nuisance, though this is common for the area. Adjacent to the white sand, the long infinity pool is surrounded by a wooden deck with umbrella-shaded loungers, gazebos, and palm trees. Directly on the beach, the well-reviewed Meru restaurant offers delicious Western-Asian fusion dishes with a touch of Mediterranean flavor, backed by stunning views of the Mount Agung volcano on the neighboring Bali. The all-day eatery serves free a la carte breakfasts with a wide variety of options. Romantic beachside dinners or set menus for special occasions can also be arranged. Meanwhile, the Quri Beach Bar is a casual space with a high sail-shaped roof and minimalist couches. Those looking for a bit of pampering can head to the on-site Mandri Spa, which offers an array of treatments. There are no gym or kid-centric facilities, however. In addition, the resort provides a car and bicycle rental service. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
