The hotel feels like a true paradise retreat with tropical gardens, traditional Indonesian statues, and thatched-roof buildings greeting guests. That said, there is a refined feeling as well thanks to modern stone pathways, manicured flower patches, and elegant archways leading throughout the grounds. This property has many artistic touches and the lobby and restaurant are full of antiques from Indonesia and Morocco -- which nicely complement earthy wicker and natural-wood furniture. Guests are often found lounging at the sparkly infinity pool that extends to the edge of a strip of sand with the ocean only steps below. The hotel seems to be especially popular with older European couples and has a romantic atmosphere, especially at the restaurant overlooking the ocean while the sun sets. The no kids under 12 policy keeps things quiet. 

The hotel is located on the beach, along a main road outside of Sengigi in the Mangsit area of Lombok. It's a quiet setting, with several restaurants, a few shops, and a grocery store within five to 10 minutes' walk. Downtown Sengigi, a 10- to 15-minute drive away, is a bustling area with lots of bars, eateries, and nightclubs -- plus Sengigi Beach and reef. Nearby excursions from Lombok include the Gili Islands, located about 20 minutes away by boat and popular for snorkeling and scuba diving. Mount Rinjani, the second-highest volcano in Indonesia, is a three-and-a-half to four-hour drive away. Malimbu Cliff, offering beautiful views of the ocean, is a 12-minute drive up the coast. The Pusuk Monkey Forest is about 40 minutes away. Lombok International Airport  is about one hour to 90 minutes away from the property.

Puri Mas is a complex of higher-end Villas with private pools, Suites, and lower-end bungalow-style rooms. The older bungalows have lots of character and are each individual in furnishings and the design, but might not be for everyone. Overall, decor has a classic Indonesian feel with modern finishes. Dark-wood floors and furniture, including locally carved pieces, combine with bright-white bedding and touches of color, pattern, and texture (such as wicker and stone accent walls). Villas look more refined with polished-wood or tile floors and a lighter palette of beiges and grays. Rooms extend to balconies and have flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and work desks. Coffee- and tea-making facilities and minibars are provided. Most rooms have bathrooms with outdoor garden showers, while some have gorgeous circular step-up tubs. Sarongs, slippers, toiletries, and bathrobes are nice touches. 

This resort sits right on the beach and guests have free access. An infinity pool reaches out to the sand, with the ocean steps away and an uninterrupted view of Bali in the distance. The luxury Puri Mas Spa is located just over a mile from the main property and features indoor and outdoor treatment areas, a lap pool, and a full menu of facial and body treatments as well as sound massage therapy. Other features include a yoga garden and an art gallery with Indonesian paintings, antiques, and arts and crafts. The Ballroom Restaurant is on the beachfront looking toward Bali and specializes in seafood and Indonesian cuisine. Breakfast buffet is included and earns consistent raves from guests. Students of the Puri Mas-sponsored Lombok International Dance School provide entertainment at the resort. Dance lessons can also be arranged. Staff can also organize day trips to Kuta (on Bali), Sendang Gile Waterfall (two hours away), and diving trips. Wi-Fi is free.
