Kila Senggigi Beach Lombok

Opened in 1987 and one of the first hotels in downtown Senggigi 30 years ago, Kila Senggigi Beach Lombok occupies a prime beachfront location within a short walk of restaurants, bars. and shops. Guests arrive at an entrance with steps flanked by a lovely cascading water feature and lanterns, leading to an elegant open-air lobby. Decorations throughout the rest of the property are more subdued; expect a traditional design of earthy tones, natural materials such as rattan, and pale hues in artwork and linens. Due to its age, there's some evident wear and tear, and the property overall could use a refresh. All restaurants have an open-air setting and at least partial sea views. Despite its central setting, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed here. Guests are primarily couples, plus some families and groups of friends. 

Set within a 12-hectare garden on the beach in downtown Senggigi, the hotel has a superb location. It's within a short 10-minute walk of several restaurants, bars, and shops. The three Gili Islands are located around a 30-minute boat ride away, while the Mount Rinjani volcano is four hours by car. Meanwhile, Lombok International Airport is around 90 minutes by car. The hotel offers free parking.

The 150 rustic rooms and bungalows are done in a traditional style that will feel either quaint or dated to travelers. Expect wood floors and furniture -- both with scuff marks -- pale-yellow walls, yellow chair cushions, and old lampshade wall sconces. Decorations are limited to the occasional wall paining. In addition to noticeable wear and tear, past guests have reported some maintenance issues such as faulty air-conditioning units and fridges. All units have furnished outdoor spaces with either garden or sea views. Also standard are flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, free Wi-Fi, minibars, electronic safes, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and wardrobes. Compact bathrooms come with walk-in showers, slippers, toiletries, and hairdryers, plus bathtubs in higher-category rooms.

The resort’s stretch of pretty beach comes dotted with loungers and umbrellas, and is a wonderful spot to catch a stunning sunset view over the ocean and Mount Agung in neighboring Bali. While the beach is often filled with hawkers, most guests do not seem to mind. Another popular spot for lounging is the lagoon swimming pool, which is surrounded by palm trees and a stone deck topped by umbrella-shaded loungers and tables.

Three dining options include Basilico Italian Pavilion, which is open for lunch and dinner, and specializes in pasta, pizza, and salads. Also open during that time is the Beachcomber Brasserie Grill & Bar, which features an open kitchen, and a selection of Asian and French cuisines with an emphasis on seafood. Meanwhile, the 24-hour Rinjani Restaurant serves Asian and western dishes, and has live music some nights. All rates include a well-regarded buffet with international and regional fare.

Purnama Spa is a simple affair offering a range of body and beauty treatments. Set in an L-shaped semi-open-air pavilion, the spa offers an outdoor hexagon-shaped pool with a couple of loungers, as well as outdoor massage gazebos. There is no gym, but the resort's recreational facilities include two tennis courts, a basketball hoop, beach volleyball, and jogging trail, plus there are snorkeling and diving options. 

Two meeting spaces are on-site and Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
