This 183-room hotel in northern New Jersey remains an anomaly in a sea of chain names in the area. Refurbished from a Travelodge in 2003, the space is now refreshingly upscale. The service options and amenities are stand-out: free pick-up and drop-off service within a five miles radius, popular on-site steakhouse and bar, indoor pool in a lovely well-lit atrium setting, extensive ballroom/meeting space, a pretty garden, full-service spa, and a spacious 24-hour fitness center. All of these perks make the Westminster a regular haunt for business travelers, and yet it has enough personality to appeal to everyone else as well.
Scene
A modern hotel that appeals to business travelers during the week and wedding parties on the weekends
The Westminster Hotel is a well-maintained hotel in the heart of suburbia that primarily attracts a clientele from neighboring Fortune 500 companies. The site contains large ballrooms and meeting spaces, and a wide array of amenities that make it stand out from the masses -- and also tend to draw the weekend wedding crowd. Some areas of the interior still exude the standard chain-hotel feel (like the busy maroon hospitality carpeting and beige hallways), while others (like the pretty garden and atrium-setting pool) set the Westminster apart.
Location
Located off State Route 10 West in Livingston, within easy driving access to neighboring towns, Short Hills Mall, several corporate offices, and New Jersey transit stations

Rooms at the Westminster Hotel are decorated in neutral colors, red furniture and black-and-white photography. Small touches like the red flower in the bathrooms (playing off the hotel’s logo) add a touch of personality; in fact, you’ll see elements of the logo just about everywhere. Large desks and ergonomic chairs provide a great place to pull out the laptop, and remind you that the Westminster is first and foremost a business hotel. The Hollandia International mattresses are comfortable and dressed in Egyptian cotton linens. The ten executive suites include fully adjustable sleep systems, iPod docks, larger flat-screen TVs, and access to a private lounge.- Flat-screen TVs, with on-demand movies and cable, including HBO

All-Inclusive / Food
A high-end, atmospheric steakhouse keeps lively all week long
The Strip House is a steakhouse chain with other locations in NYC, Vegas, Houston, and Florida. New Jersey’s decor is a bit more conservative than the others, but stays true to the core red-and-black contemporary design. The bar/lounge area is a cool place to meet and grab a drink, and there is also a private dining room available for larger groups. The food is on par with any top New American steakhouse, and the prices reflect it (think expense accounts), but with few options available in the area, this place is consistently busy. The lounge area is where a well-stocked breakfast is served Monday through Friday.
