Bottom Line

The 152-room Liner Hotel is a nautical-themed property down the street from Liverpool Lime Street rail station, the main travel hub of the city. It has a brasserie, pub, banquet hall, business center, and numerous meeting rooms. The rooms here are spacious and include nice touches such as a kettle and stocked minibar, but some of the nautical furniture and decor can feel a touch dated and worn. Scene

A hotel that feels like a cruise liner

The Liner has been designed to resemble a traditional sailing vessel, an obvious tribute to the city of Liverpool which was once dependent on its port for trade and industry. Rooms are labeled as cabins and are decorated in red and navy. Portholes decorate the halls, lounges, and reception. Though the fish tanks are a fun touch, the nautical theme can be a tad overdone at times.

Location

Right next to the train station, a short walk from everything else

The Liner is just down the street from Liverpool Lime Street rail station, which has national and suburban rail services to a number of cities including London, Liverpool Airport, Chester, and Manchester. The hotel is also just down the street from The Liverpool Museum, St. George's Hall, and the Walker Art Gallery, as well as the Liverpool Academy music venue and the Liverpool Empire Theater. The only downside of the hotel's vicinity to the train station is that a large portion of rooms face the railroad tracks (with the Liverpool skyline beyond that), and some guests have commented on the noise of the trains in the early mornings.

Rooms

Large and well-equipped

Rooms at the Liner Hotel come with a range of extras such as free refreshments (tea, coffee, water, cupcakes) bathrobes, and slippers. The nautical theme of the hotel continues in the rooms with white and navy blue stripes on the walls. There's plenty of space for luggage and a safe is included in the wardrobe. Bathrooms have beauty mirrors and free Gilchrist & Soames toiletries. All rooms have free Wi-Fi.

Features

Lots of public space, great for conferences and events

The Liner has a large banquet hall as well as six business rooms for conferences and private events. There are two bars (the Castaway Bar and the Pacific lounge bar), the Seven Seas Brasserie (which has a very flexible menu and includes a large aquarium), as well as the Atlantic Room, which is the resident self-catering breakfast room and public space. The Liner Hotel has also has parking facilities (either a day rate or free for guests who spend the day rate amount at the brasserie), free Wi-Fi, and 24-hour reception.
