The Jurys Inn
Liverpool is a mid-range, 310-room hotel housed in a sleek, contemporary
building on Liverpool's prestigious Kings Waterfront. Location is the hotel's
main selling point -- next to Albert Dock and just 10 minutes to the city
center on foot. It's a popular pick with weekend revelers and noise traveling can be an issue between the basic rooms. Beyond the setting there's not much to get
excited about and, this considered, rates are on the high side; check out the
nearby Holiday Inn Express or Premier Inn for better value.
Scene
Sleek, contemporary build with functional chain-hotel ambience
Opened in 2008, Jurys Inn Liverpool is housed in a sleek and imposing, six-story building
that fuses contemporary steel and glass architecture with the period red brick
aesthetic of the neighboring Albert Dock warehouses. Inside, the lobby area is
an open-concept space where polished stone floors reflect daylight from floor-to-ceiling windows that stretch the length of the
ground floor and extend to a restaurant and cafe. The vibe is businesslike and
functional, with little in the way of personality beyond the odd splash of
color. Clientele are a blend of corporate and leisure during the week, while
weekends tend to attract concert-goers and a steady stream of
bachelor/bachelorette parties in town to party.
Location
Set right next to Liverpool's Albert Dock, a 10-minute walk from city center
The hotel is situated
on Kings Waterfront, right next to Liverpool's Albert Dock and directly
opposite the Echo Arena and ACC Liverpool. There's plenty to do in the
immediate surroundings, including the interactive Beatles Story experience and
Tate Liverpool art gallery just a few minutes' walk away. The city center is about a
10-minute walk from the hotel, while Liverpool Central train station is 15 minutes
on foot or five minutes by cab. For those flying in, John Lennon Airport is
eight miles or 20 minutes away by car.
Rooms
Standard rooms with standard amenities and poor soundproofing
The hotel has 310
rooms in total, all of which are decorated in a neat, simple, and pretty
standard fashion with plain modern furnishings, carpeted floors, and decorative
wall art. Amenities are standard-issue too, including free Wi-Fi, tea and
coffee facilities, and flat-screen TVs (though there's no satellite or cable). Unlike
some hotels in the area, rooms are air-conditioned but soundproofing between
rooms is generally poor (and can be an issue with weekend revelers).
Features
Restaurant with buffet breakfast and bar serving Costa Coffee
The hotel serves
a buffet breakfast each morning in its ground floor restaurant, though it is
generally not included in the rate and there are reports of it getting very
busy at weekends. The restaurant also serves an a la carte menu, while a
bar area also offers Costa Coffee products. There's no parking on-site, but
guests can get a discount at the Echo arena car park, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the building.
